RAH and 190's
#191
I would personally be fine if Republic got 190s IF AND ONLY IF a LOT of things change at this airline.
It scares me to think that 20 years from now many of us may still be at RAH. Imagine, 20 years from now, that you are waking up at 3a.m. to make your usual 4:30a.m. showtime in CMH. You fly you EMB190 to CLT in 1:18 but get block or better so you get paid 1:20, cool. Now it is time to start your 4:25 sit. You spend your time in our "crewroom", the area up above the food court. You know where I'm talking about. I'm sure we still won't have a real crewroom because, although we spend a huge amount of time sitting in CLT it isn't a base so a crewroom isn't required. So now that you are thoroughly ****ed off and exhausted from sitting around, it is time to stroll to your gate for your GSO out and back. Uh Oh, plane is broken, your round trip is canceled. Well lets sit around CLT for 3 more hours getting paid $1.50 an hour perdiem. No cancellation pay, so we just lost 1:20!! Well, we had another 2:50 sit in CLT scheduled after our GSO round trip before our deadhead home. After sitting in CLT for 10+ hours making perdiem only, we are finally on our deadhead flight home. This flight is blocked at 1:25 but since it is a deadhead we are only paid for 75% of the block = 1:04. Total pay for the day - 2:24 flight pay, 13 hours taxable perdiem. My 2nd year FO made $95 for working a 13 hour day.
Weather we do or do not get 190s we need to make changes at this airline NOW! Otherwise this may be a day in the life years down the road for many of us. Do not accept a contract without:
- full deadhead pay
- cancellation pay
- some sort of trip or duty rigs
- significant pay increases
- better medical benefits
- etc etc etc
If we get 190s at this regional, those planes will never be at a mainline carrier. This in turn means there will be fewer mainline jobs for us in the future. If we are gonna be stuck here lets have some respect for ourselves and get an awesome contract so we aren't all miserable, crusty old people 20 years down the road. Have a great day everyone!!

yeah cause Mason works at the only regional to never undercut another regional, never hires 300 hour wonders and pays first year FO's above the poverty level.......

Who cares who Mason works for. Justifying yourself because of what others do, is the first sign you are doing something wrong.

didn't realize I said anything that needed justification. Just pointing out that no regional pilot has the right to point fingers and say that...

Considering you work at eagle where the contract basically states you'll always be in the middle of the road I don't think you have much room to talk lol. Those rates were there just as a precautionary "we can't see the future" numbers. Without fully understanding why and how they are there you aren't really making a valid point. Those aircraft never existed when the numbers were made. If XJT, Comair, Eagle, you name it wanted to fly larger aircraft tomorrow they'd have payscales for them too.
