There is a strong rumor floating around Mesaba that the SLC flying that we've just begun is only temporary and eventually that capacity will be shifted to JFK. But apparently not to include a crew domicile. Stay tuned!

You of all people should know then, JO (actually R Gumm) won't cx flights at Delta's request because they will use those cancellations in our overall performance numbers (see Delta v Mesa in court right now). Last winter we cancelled hundreds of flights at DL's request and got screwed over by it.

We have a mx base in cvg albeit a small one currently (no hanger) heavy mx will continue to be done primarily in CLT, BNA, and CAE.

Strange. I asked some F8 pilots (last winter) why so many of their flights were canceled and their reply was that once the delays began, and crews timed out, F8 did not have enough pilots to man the flights (reserve).

Not sure what the truth is.....just what I heard.

That's what the SkyWest pilots were told and the part about SLC being temporary was told to me in my interview with Mesaba, last December. Of course some things have changed since then like those airplanes going to ASA instead.

Definitely some truth to that as we were badly understaffed however the majority were DL commanded Cx'es. (I guess the court will decide that)

Rumor coming from JR and JS to recurrent pilots as recently as late Feb that I know of for sure, haven't talked to anyone that has gone this month yet....

Remember that the only DCI regional smaller than Comair is Compass, although CHQ and Freedom have flying outside DCI that keeps them larger than Comair.

Let's say you're designing a bridge to carry a given load. This bridge will wind up weighing many times the load it is designed to carry. Similarly, for every rifleman in a combat unit there are roughly ten soldiers behind the lines supporting him.

Likewise, the botched operation that will be Comair moving to JFK will require vast numbers of reserves to support a few lineholders.

3000 hours / 82 min line = 36 crews (72 pilots)

Which means that there will be 2 reserves for every lineholder (planning was slightly off with their "one for every four" guess)

Or maybe the average line value is going to 30 hours...

Im not here to pick a fight with a freedom guy but i am curious what the spin on the whole court thing is in your house? i know that the feeling at most DCI groups is that your out. Just wondering if thats the consensus over there
