Who says an additional 200 furloughs?
I know the furloughed guys can't call in or get on EPIC, but during the "JFnK expansion QnA conference call" last week, crew forcasting/planning said exactly that. They were "live" at the time, and a lot comes out that wouldn't get included on an "official memo to pilots". An additional 200 furloughs were anticipated for this spring but the JFK flying has put these furloughs on hold until at least September.

If you have access to EPIC you can download the censored audio. I don't know if that comment was supposed to be revealed to the listeners so it may not be on the recording anymore.

This additional flying saved 200 jobs? Wasn't it just under 3000 hours? How many crews do they staff per X amount of hours?

Commuting to JFK blows but as a JetBlue Captain I will always sweep the gate area to make sure no-one is left behind if they are trying to commute.

And that my friend, is why I loved JS on Jetblue! I commute from RSW and the B6 guys have always treated me and my girlfriend (she's an FA) with the greatest of respect and caring. I actually saw a Comair captain get to a Jetblue gate just after the door closed. The gate agent told him the flight was closed out. The Jetblue captain saw the Comair guy in the window and had the door opened back up to get him on! I have been closed out of DAL flights 10 minutes before departure and they say "Oh well"
I was furloughed in January and I really miss flying on Jetblue. Hopefully if you guys ever start hiring again, they will call me for an interview. I love JFK and would love to fly for Jetblue.

As you said "what happens in September?"...is quite the question...

While i don't put it past Comair to furlough into the current captains, we don't know what's going to happen.

Don't get everyone's panty hose bunched up by saying "200 furloughs" like it's a certainty, people will run with it and pretty soon they'll be quitting because they think they're gonna get furloughed in sep.......on second hand...

This just in..Comair to furlough all but 4 pilots.....12/2/78 seniority date required to hold CVG 50 FO!
Hate to say it but JB said himself that this move would possibly keep us from furloughing roughly another 200 pilots. All of his memos also said that this move would keep us from furloughing through August anyway. I don't want to see Comair shrink anymore, but let's face it, with as many regional carriers as their are now there is NO need or benefit to Delta to have one regional be so big.

This "additional flying" means less of a decrease, so they're spinning it as an increase. They have said no new pilot furloughs will be required through September.

Of course, that begs the question: "what happens in September?"

Funny how Freedom can't do the job so they uproot 15-year Comair guys and send them to JFnK with the sympathy line "we understand completely if you decide Comair may not be the right company for you any more"

They tell us that all of DCI's regionals are hurting right now. Right. Are any of them looking at one third of their pilots on furlough and 10 years seniority to stay in the left seat?

3825 Delta.
That sounds exactly like Mesaba in 2006.... Course those of us that were here then all know the reality of the scam that was pulled on us.

Has Comair really shrunk to 1100 pilots? The New Hire seniority was over 1600 in 2003.

That really sucks.

It was close to 1600 in 2007 as well.
