I love how people are giving out advice saying "go flying boxes in a light twin" yadda yadda yadda...if those jobs were readily available I would love to do that...but they're not! I have my MEI, and it's pretty hard pressed for anybody to land any decent multi time without buying it...which I basically refuse to do. So how am I supposed to raise my multi time from 158 magically up to 200-500?

No one in their right mind will be considering this as a profession from now on because the best they could hope for is a CA slot for an ERj 175 OR crj and a long wait for the privilage to be on reserve for a decade at a major. Trainings is becoming ridiculously expensive, might as well become a doctor or lawyer. This next year and maybe the year after that things will be tough but when this economy turns around, there will be no more pilots to draw from. I wouldn't be surprised if we see ab-initio programs for the regionals and abintio programs for some majors in this life time. Kind of like all the truck and bus driving schools out there. Mesa will be advertising for abintio pilots on radio.
Did you read the initial post??????

I know many companies have a multiplier for military time right now.

I would think that ATP mins with written completed would be a good start. And to debunk one post, that is more than I had when I was hired.

I do not remember what I had but it was somewhere around 1300 or so with 150-180 multi (cant recall the multi) ATP written was done but only because it got me out of the companies written at the interview.

This is true - though even applying all of the most popular conversion times from the different airlines I wouldn't make your 5000 TT minimums and I've got a fair amount of time for my community after a career, so anyone getting out prior to 20 probably wouldn't make those mins.

For a regional carrier in today's world. I think realistically, somewhere between 1,000-1,500 Total time, and at least 100 of multi.

i would love to fly 19 pax turbo props between bar harbor and portland or haul boxes in an aztec but wait a second...that's not how the industry works any more.

1994 = Jetstream, Merlin, Beech 1900
2008 = CRJs, ERJs, E170s
