ok guys back to the original topic. I had no idea we were getting comair planes. Comair guys, that sucks and its totally pointless. I am sorry. Anyways I had heard that the planes might get painted starting in april and I was just curious if anyone had heard anything.

Windsor and others concerned- look at the bid pack for the flying hours break down. We may have 124 CRJ's but we typically have 5-6 AIRCRAFT LINES less of flying for the spares and mx. I was hearing a late spring timeframe for the new paint jobs. I think we are trying to keep em unpainted as long as possible to try and wear off ALL the paint on the older birds so we can ask for a discount! lol.

I've heard nothing at Mesaba about us getting spare airplanes from Comair. Are you sure that's accurate?

It has been going around the training center at XJ that we are getting 1 maybe 2 Comair 200's for spares. Someone told me it was fact....nothing is fact with Delta...I asked a maintenance guy about it last week and he said "he has been told we are getting lots more 200's". Rumors, Rumors, and more rumors!

Yeah, sorry Comair guys. If it were up to me, we wouldnt fly them. By the way, at my former company, typically the more paint was missing, the better it flew.
DAL - your post seemed like a knock on 50 seaters and RJ drivers in general. Hence my reply.

Don't feel bad about the 300 furloughed Comair pilots, since Delta is apparently sending "spare" Comair planes to ASA, Mesaba, and SkyWest too.

First I have heard of this.......

I agree. Putting a 130 pax aircraft in a 50 pax market makes much more sense.

That's not the problem. The problem is that the 50 seat RJ economics don't support the yields the airlines are getting for the seats. If you doubt me, tell me how many 50 seaters are being delivered by Bombardier or Embraer right now in the U.S.? If they are money makers, we should be getting them delivered by the droves. They aren't because they don't make money. They got an extension on life because oil fell but that's it. If you fly for a 50 seat only RJ operator I would be very worried about job security beyond 5 years from now.

The 70 seaters have better economics. And yes, if the airline's decide that to reduce ASMs, they could reduce the number of banks they run between flights than a 130 seater flying a route a few times a day vs. 9 times a day for a 50 seater would be more economical.

DAL stopping deliveries and/or selling 737's.

DAL in "talks" with Boeing about the 787 (because Boeing may not be able to keep the delivery schedule).

I'm just saying....
