Eagle upgrade times
#11
Yea, I do know that CAL is taking some guys without PIC turbine time which would be great. I do have my app in with them, and I did an internship with them when I was in college. So, I am hoping that will help a little bit. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers!

I'd like to come to Eagle maybe someday. I'm almost at mins. But I too, am wandering about this upgrade time thing. Yet I'm kinda attached to it now. I grew up in DFW, and wouldn't mind being based there. Also I interned for Eagle, and I think I would enjoy the regional airline lifestyle. Some guys are happy, some are not so.

My favorite is the wake up calls at 0430 from the cheery folks at screw scheduling to be at the airport at 0630 to sit. Think you'll be able to pick up girls by telling them youre an airline pilot? Good luck, you'll get them as far as the exit at the club and then theyll see your Schwinn parked out front and just laugh at you.
Someone suggested this regional airline simulation before me, so I can't take credit but I will recount it. If you wanna see what its like to be a regional airline pilot, try this:
Have your buddy call you at 0400. Have him be surly and *****y when he tells you to drive to the airport and sit and maybe he'll call you again. Make sure you get your butt to the airport by 0600!
One you're at the airport just sit in the parking lot for an hour or 2 and then have your buddy call again and have you drive an hour to a rest stop and then just wait there for another 2 hours.
After 2 hours of sitting at the rest stop pick a random direction and drive 2 hours to another rest stop. This time you only get 20 minutes before you blast off to another rest stop 45 minutes away where you will sit again for another 2 hours.
After sitting, turn around and head for home, but when you get about 3/4 of the way there, just start driving in circles around a random point for 45 mins to an hour then drive off towards a random rest stop you had no intention of going to. Sit at the rest stop for 2 more hours then blast off and head back to the airport you started at. Once you get back to the airport, sit for 15 minutes and twiddle your thumbs and then head for home.
Thats a fun (and cheap) regional airline pilot simulator.

LOL - That simulation is dead on!
Don't forget to add an @$$hole captain, gay and/or fat ugly FA who is a *****, and eat only out of vending machines while on this trek. It'll also help if you can share an apartment with 10 of your friends and stay in a hotel with a maximum of 6 hours worth of sleep.

Wow.... shocked to read some of this horse crap from the eagle guys. You know no matter how good it is or how bad it is people will still complain. If its soooooo horrible then please quit, and someone will move up a number on your behalf.
Alot of people have been complaning about upgrade times and pay, well #1
You need 3000 total to upgrade which of those who are complaining probabally dont have the time, and #2 I know of plenty of first officers making 55-60k on the jet (w/ overtime). And in my opinion if you cant live on that then you have other issues to be addressed.
Aviation is what you make of it, and most just wait around to be fed with a silver spoon.
