Just a question... are you being paid for your current job as a King Air SIC?

thats a negative! doing it for free! but we don't fly everyday! and can't get home, because I have to pay for it... with GIA I might jumpseat for free! thats way better than being a CFI! well, if you work for DCA they can also travel for almost free...

just have 12 hours on the king air! not flying alot thats why if I go to GIA i will be better off than CFI, getting more multi-engine, turbine, part 121! if I rent a duchess that will cost me a lot to build the 250 in a piston! it make sense! getting ahead!

Beats CFI-ing? Granted CFI-ing gets old... if i do another lap in the pattern I think I might jump out, and believe me, I'm sick of working 7 days a week, with NO BENEFITS, with people you can't trust in a car, nonetheless an airplane.

BUT.....

I am not bashing any lakers, but I refused to go to Great Lakes, because the pay was so low! (50% paycut from my current CFI job) I'm not in this industry for the money, but I do expect to be compensated for my skilled labor, at least to the equivalence of a McDonald's worker. As I believe it is up to us youngsters to stand our ground early on, if we want to make a change to the pilot position! It's hard to do, but it will be worth it in the END, when our kids are going to college.

as for GIA....

I am not for this pay for your training concept. I already paid for my training, I have a Comm- AMEL license.. I am qualified for your position. IF you want to take the cost of "specialized training" and put me on a probationary pay, or take a little bit out of my paycheck each month, then ok.. or like GREAT LAKES, have a training contract. THATS OK.. again just give me enough to pay my bills.

But with GIA, that's not the case, and the big thing that gets my blood boiling, is they have people on the streets while you PAY to do their job. YOU are letting these companies get away with the natural costs that comes with a company, LABOR!! so instead of getting paid for your labor, you are furloughed because somebody is paying to do YOUR job, ?!?!?!?!

I'd be ****ed if i got a call from the bossman, that says pack up your **** this dude is replacing you, and he's paying US to do it!!

this industry is already in the crapper for us young guys knocking at the door, it doesn't help that you are undercutting your FELLOW PILOTS!!! we might as well call you management.

So it's not a job... it's an airplane ride.

and can't get home, because I have to pay for it...
What a lovely "employer" you have...

At DCA at least you're actually being paid for your work.
