Default On a more positive note...

I received several kind and empathetic nods from pilots in seeing me in a Colgan uniform today, and I want them and all of you to know that it is noticed and very much appreciated.

Colgan is a growing, but still relatively small company. Chances are nearly every crewmember knew someone on that airplane, or at least know somebody who knew them well. I knew two of them quite well. We are all still in shock and grief over this loss, and I and we appreciate everybody's kind thoughts and prayers.

You can all honor Marvin, Rebecca, Donna, Matilda, and Joe by doing whatever you can to keep yourselves and your passengers safe.

As SAABaroowski so very well put ... we lost some DAMN FINE PILOTS last night.

Let's all join together to raise our glasses to those we lost! *cheers*

I agree it's sad when we lose our brothers and sisters to such events. I will pray that GOD finds a way to assauge the terrible loss that the families will be going through. The skys will even darker without them.
To the rest of you folks, I wish you all the best. We may have our differences, but when it comes to your safety, I want each and everyone of you to come home to your families.

Much love and respect to the crews we lost and to you as well.

Awesome post!!

We can all honor them by learning from whatever happened last night and continuing to fly on and becoming better pilots

To all my brothers and sisters in the aviation community: FLY SAFE AND STAY STRONG!

I flew a two day about three weeks ago with Joe. He was a great captain to fly with. He was what a professional pilot should be. Very profesional and fun to fly with. He will be missed. I commuted with Rebecca on the 11th and we sat around the crew room with Marvin and just shot the breeze for for about three hours. Rebecca had just moved back to the Seattle area and was happy to get back to the northwest. She was a great person and everyone that I have talked to said she was a great pilot as well. Peace and Prayers to the families

I was paired for 2 months with Marvin in IAH. Saying he was a great guy is such an understatement. His quick wit and charm is what I will remember most from Marvin. As a pilot, and Captain, I can attest to his professionalism and high regard for safety. Marvin was the type of guy who would always brief what we would do in the event of an emergency, no matter how many legs you have flown together. I used to joke him about "another 5 minute departure briefing."

Marvin had two children and loved them like we could all hoped to be loved by our father's. I know he had an especially close relationship to his son.

I just got to my room for an overnight and want to sit and sulk but in honnor of Marvin and the crew Im going to have a drink for them.

Marvin, I drink one for you buddy. God Bless you and your family as well the others lost.

No,
Propellers go to 1020 after gear extension in the flow. Gear down, props up and then some other non pertinent items. According to what they said gear had been down for 1 minute so props were already running at 1020 and had been for a minute. Not speculation but I am curious if they were handflying in the iceing on the approach. Would have given them a slight advantage in "feeling" what was or was not going on.

No idea if they were or were not.

My thoughts and prayers go to all that were lost.

I found this article on the internet, I don't know if it has been posted yet, but I found it quite...well...I don't know what to make of it. If this has been posted already, sorry for the double post.

I think we can all agree that no matter what happened we had two DAMN FINE PILOTS up there in that flight deck. Anyone that knew them knows that if there was anything they could have done, it was done.

I've known Marvin to hand fly on random occasions so it wouldn't surprise me if he was. He was always trying to improve his skills and become a better pilot.

I had the pleasure to fly a 2 day trip with Joe Z. this summer before he transitioned to the Q-400. We had an overnight in HYA and had a great night out and the next day we were walking into town and happend to witness a guy get run over on his bike by a van and we were the first ones to help the poor guy until medical help arrived. Although that was my only trip with him we became good friends in that short period. God bless him as well as all of those that perished and pray for the families during this most difficult time.
