Colgan Air flight 3407

While I do not work for Colgan, my wife does, and I believe that I heard a little bit about the story above.
First I would like to give my condolences to the entire Colgan family. I have read through this thread and am glad to see the support for each other in this time of loss.
From my conversations with my wife, I have a lot of respect for the flight crews. My thoughts are with the families affected by this tragic accident.

Really the only positive thing I've heard is that you actually hear from him. Usually it's about something completely pointless and could have been avoided if he'd done research, but at least you know he exists. Our last chief pilot I wasn't even sure cared about anything ... never heard a peep from him.

I can't stand ******** chief pilots. We had one at Mesa for quite some time, and we got rid of him (and the interim who wasn't much better at all, and maybe even worse) and we have a GOOD chief now. AI. He's a super awesome guy - and he's a pilot's pilot. I LOVE that man too - he's like the funniest dude I've ever met. I wish he was doing my recurrent checkride. lol.
Just hang on Captain - you'll see things changing at Colgan. I promise. I'll be around to help out when the time is right, we all will be. No longer will we put up with BS from management. No longer will we accept unsafe aircraft, and no longer will we put the company before our family.
You guys at Colgan are good people - and the good guys always prevail. Marvin will be upstairs helping us out from that end - I know it.

In fact my goal then and still today is to retire without him/her knowing who I am...

From what I have heard Pinnacle Inc. is doing away with all the outstations over the next year to go to pure Hub & Spoke operations. We already closed HPN this month (or end of Jan, can't remember) and they all went to IAD. I don't know what station is gonna be next, but I hope it happens soon. I think outstations are VERY inefficient, but that's just me.
I honestly wished that when our former CP passed away the, now Director of Ops took over the job (which he did interim for about 2 weeks). Oh well.
All we can do now is fight for what we know we deserve! And believe me, fight we will! We have some good people on our MEC

I share the same viewpoint you do though. I don't EVER like hearing from my CP unless it's him calling to compliment me on a job well done ... HA! (that one made me laugh just typing it).

Yeah, I really haven't heard many people that like the guy ... most think he's a giant tool.

One thing strikes me as odd about the coverage this accident has received. When US Airways landed in the Hudson, all the news stories talked about how the Captain landed the plane, handled the emergency, etc. like there wasn't even anybody else in the cockpit with him. When talking about the Colgan crash, the media seems always to reference the crew's actions, even though from the ATC tapes we can surmise it was the Captain at the controls.
