I really do not post much on this site but after going through several emotions over the past days since the crash I have come to the pure anger phase.
I am utterly disgusted with the media in the country and their need to come up with a story even if it means slandering some damn fine pilots. I know we have been beating a dead horse with this today but I am not going to sit back and let them get away with it. I plan on spending my entire day tomorrow blasting them with calls and emails until they get the story straight on the entire "autopilot" issue. They will not dishonor Marvin and Rebecca by trying to suggest that they did ANYTHING wrong.
Although I am not a CNN guy I must admit that the following cnn.com article was well written and did a good job explaing the facts that were given from the NTSB briefing today. The author did not make any assumptions and did not try to bait the readers with a catchy by line suggesting that the pilots may be at fault. This is the type of reporting we need after a disaster like this. Just the facts. They for sure will get an email from me. I wish the rest of the media would take note.

The comments posted from all of you since the crash have made me proud to be part of this industry again. Rest in peace 3407.

Knew the FO pretty good. She use to work in the office at the FBO where I work at now. She was a little head of me in college so I often asked questions and advice from here when she was giving me the dispatch book during my training. Now im a CFI there and it has been a sad couple of days at work. Lots of friends from the college days comin back to go to the trade show to remeber Becca.
Hope this thread stays goin for a while and does not dog the crew.

We, the pilots, need to remember that the news reporters are our true enemies. They will always try to sensationalize an accident even if it means the story is full of inconsistencies, half-truths and even straight lies.
The Hudson River USAirways water landing was an unusual exception to the rule because #1 – it had such a positive outcome, and #2, the captain was an older gentleman (which the passengers always like – gray hair means experience, right?) and the media decided to create a hero out of him while totally disregarding the contributions of the remaining crew members.
Therefore always beware of the media snakes!
Back to the subject:
I would like to know if any of the crew members (pilots and flight attendants) had children and if so if there will be college funds, etc set up for those kids?
Please post that information as I and I’m sure many others would like to contribute to my fellow Colgan aviators who took this fateful final flight to Valhalla Heaven.
I and all Big Brown aviators will keep the crew and the passengers of Colgan 3407 in our prayers.

... AV8OR- thank you for bringing up the 9/11 widow. That is what I was reading through the post looking for to see if I needed to post it. She had just met with the President to talk about 9/11. The loss of my brother and sisters has hit me hard, but learning of the widow was just another shot to the gut.
My prayers now also go out to the family and friends of Beverly Ekhert. You have lost two family members to tragic and unspeakable incidents. For that, I honestly have no words that could even begin to comfort you for a loss so overwhelming.

May God bless her and her entire family...
