I'm fairly certain that I speak for all of us here at Colgan Air when I say ...
I want to take this time to thank everyone from every airline and every occupation that has offered their support/condolences/sympathy/time/buddy passes/etc. I cannot tell you just how much this all means to our airline and family members. As it was stated before, we are a relatively small airline, but we are a growing steadily. I think we finally reached the 500 pilot mark.
I find it amazing that no matter how much hostility and bashing there is between different airlines when something goes terribly wrong and lives are lost ... it's as if all of our differences disappear and all that's left is a fraternity of brothers and sisters who share the same passion in life. It's a truly amazing thing to witness and be on the receiving end of. I was still in college when the Comair tragedy happened, and now that I am in the airline industry I can truly understand the impact it has on all of us.
Again, I believe I can speak on behalf of the entire Colgan Air family when I say: Thank you all for you kind words and prayers. Fly safe out there and take care

We're all sharing the same love of flying with its risks. I feel for you all Colgan guys. Used to see some of your names on the sim planning in YYZ when we went there for training. Fly safe.

I read the article this morning about the NTSB stating that the aircraft didn't impact in a dive and yet it was nearly flat. It kills me that the media source that was publishing this article about the NTSB's findings, then proceeded in the next paragraph by again saying went the aircraft plunged nose first in a Nose Dive into the ground. ***?

Thats alright they just said the flight crew flew into icing with the AP on. And said that it is prohibited yet the NTSB made no such mention that they were at fault. ****ing Media already tarnishing good names, I swear maybe I should become a aviation analyst for the media and set it straight so they dont bad mouth or torture peoples families with insultful lies. The experience comments by the media is so retarded that my only answer to all of it is many many expelitives upon expelitives.

I just read an article on this. I have not heard anything on the Colgan procedures, but the other items were [b]ALL recommendations [b], of which there can be no violation since it is only a recommendation. The other is the autopilot, which they were saying was on at the time of the crash. The way it has been discussed in some of these articles is completely inaccurate. The autopilot was most likely on during the vectoring to the approach, but once the shaker/pusher was activated, the autopilot would NOT have been on.
I also disagree with turning off the autopilot in icing conditions for better feel. That just does not apply to hydraulically controlled aircraft.
I have already written proposal letters to be mailed Tuesday to all of the major news outlets (CNN, MSNBC, FOXNEWS, etc) for aviation consulting. I am sick to death of the news media BUTCHERING these accidents and incidents. It all started with the nose-gear incident with JetBlue and this Colgan accident has put me over the edge. I am going to do what I can to stop the media's destruction of airline issues.
