Default Nonrev costs Domestic and International first class on UAL

Howdy ladies and gentlemen!

I'm sure the this subject matter has been discussed before somewhere on here, but using that lovely search feature just isn't working in my favor this time around.

I was wondering for anyone that has actually nonrev'ed first class before on UAL domestically and international before exactly how much it would cost to do so. I'm looking to utilize my benefits quite a bit over the next few months and just curious to see how much I should look for it to cost if I went first as much as I could.

I work for Colgan if it makes a difference, but i'm fairly certain all the Express carriers have pretty much the same benefits.

Thanks for the info!

Do you have access to expressnet? I use to have UAL benny's and we logged onto that site to list and there was a feature somewhere to find out costs for trips all over. Not sure if this helps, hope it does...

1st class Domestic isn't much. I flew to Hawaii from SFO 1st class and it was 43 bucks. I think most of that was tax. I didn't get first on any other leg. It made the 5 hours go much faster. They fed me like crazy. Pot roast with potatoes, ice cream with hot fudge. All served on real plates/bowls and silverware! Right now is the best time to non-rev. Almost everything is wide open. Have fun, buy me a t-shirt.

I avoid UAL non-reving at all costs, especially internationally. Their costs, when compared to other airlines are INSANE! The taxes they charge make no sense what-so-ever either. Look forward to crippling payroll deductions at their whim. The deductions are supposed to come quarterly, but seem to come at their choosing. I've recieved paychecks for $1.00 several times without warning because of unexpected deductions. If you work for Colgan, try and take another partner if able or Jumpseat. Maybe my experiences have been unique and poor, but I just thought I'd voice my opinion.

I've never tried this on UAL but for me I always list as a jumpseater DAL, NW ect.....Get a seat in the back.....Wait till everyone has boarded and walk on last. Then ask the FA when I walk on if there are any seats open up front ( first class ). So far it has worked 100% of the times and I ride first class for free. If you have a candy bar or two for the FA(s) ...even better. I jumpseated back from Cancun recently and it was 37.00 international tax to get back into the US. Same coming back from Santiago Chile.....cost like 45 that time. Hope this helps

Yep. If you have to go UAL, just jumpseat. Much cheaper and easier.
