Great Lakes Airlines Hiring???

^ definitely. How could you not?
I'm going to ask again a question I had posted before since I never got a straight answer; does anyone know if the chief pilot will consider giving me a class date or re-interviewing me after I turned down a class last summer? Emailed the guy in HR and he said the chief will review my info. Is he a nice guy who might be willing to forgive my trespasses? I'd like to get a response from some lakers who actually know the CP or if this type of situation ever comes up.

And in one sentence you have captured the essence of why the profession will continue to slip even further.... so long as there are people willing to accept sub standard wages, and sub standard working conditions because they get to fly a bigger plane and log more flight time.... then there will never be ANY incentive ofr any management to pay a decent wage.

Nobody knows if you'll be able to do both at lakes, maybe even one of them. I agree with you though, this industry is going to suck either way. It's a dog eat dog business and that has trickled down to the pilot ranks as well. People will do anything to fly. I'm sure a lot of us want to do something about it if given the chance. At least with this admin seems like they're pro labor, who knows...

Trust me if I am ever in a position to better this industry I will do all I can. I'm sure most are familiar with Mazlows hierarchy? Well before I get to the top of the pyramid I have to put food in my mouth and shelter over my head. Food stamps can help with that. I'm lucky that I'm single and could probably afford to live off lakes pay. I actually have been working the numbers for where I live now and commuting. I can make it work. Later on down the road when I'm at a major or some kind of respectable job I'll fight to improve things. But there is only so much we can do right now, there is a great surplus of pilots on the street and managements know that.

I'm not attacking you on this but why not try to improve Lakes while you are there? Just because it isn't a major doesn't mean you can have good work rules and pay. I'd suggest if you have time when you get on with Lakes get involved with the union some how. The end of this year the contract is up. After you get some 121 experience why not try to get on the negotiations commitee to make things better. With the way the industry is going you will be at Lakes for sometime to get any turbine PIC wouldn't it be nice if it got better while you where there.
