Great Lakes Airlines Hiring???
#221
Hi all,
I interviewed on April 14 and got an email today saying they have "identified other candidates whose overall background and qualifications more closely match our needs". However "this is no reflection of you or your record of accomplishments but solely an indication of our need to match the requirements of this position as closely as possible". So basically I take from this that even though I did extremely well in the interview and answered every question confidently and correctly to the best of my knowledge, that they based the decision on information that they could see on my resume before I was even offered the interview. Thank you GLA for the Top Notch rip off of $1800, the cost of preparing for this interview, including buying time to get current, new medical, airline tickets, hotel, etc., etc. I just love spending money I don't have.
The silver lining however comes from the previous post, saying that if I were hired I would be in a pool until August. This shows that everything happens for a reason, and hopefully a better opportunity will now present itself.
I sincerely wish everyone who interviewed the best, and to those who were hired, congratulations! It is a glimmer of hope, and an opportunity for a job which today isn't easy to come by. I just hope that those in the pool currently have jobs to support them until a class begins.
Until next time....

I agree that it is a very frustrating situation. You have very right to feel frustrated. These are some very tough times. Hang in there though. This situation will eventually turn around. Don't let it get the better of you.

Seriously, I don't get it. I turned them down out of disgust. I'm not asking for 6 figures, paid vacation, or a great benefits plan, but how about enough to pay the bills? How can you afford to go to training with no PAY? Seriously, somebody please tell me, what is your avg. paycheck AFTER you get out of training?? If i could balance it out, I would love to go there.
Here's my expenses-
-Car
-Insurance
-Cell phone
-Housing
-Utilities
-Gas
-Food

This is what my email said word for word. I took out the contact info though.
After recent review our current staffing levels and operational need for additional flight crew members, Great Lakes Airlines has temporarily suspended active hiring at this time. Please be advised that candidates interviewed on May 8, 2009 will be considered for a hiring pool in anticipation of a future class date once active hiring resumes.
We currently have you scheduled for an interview on 5/8/2009 at 11:00:00 AM and look forward to meeting with you.
If you wish to withdraw your application from consideration, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 307.555.5555 or via email (@flygreatlakes.com).
