Hi all,
I interviewed on April 14 and got an email today saying they have "identified other candidates whose overall background and qualifications more closely match our needs". However "this is no reflection of you or your record of accomplishments but solely an indication of our need to match the requirements of this position as closely as possible". So basically I take from this that even though I did extremely well in the interview and answered every question confidently and correctly to the best of my knowledge, that they based the decision on information that they could see on my resume before I was even offered the interview. Thank you GLA for the Top Notch rip off of $1800, the cost of preparing for this interview, including buying time to get current, new medical, airline tickets, hotel, etc., etc. I just love spending money I don't have.
The silver lining however comes from the previous post, saying that if I were hired I would be in a pool until August. This shows that everything happens for a reason, and hopefully a better opportunity will now present itself.
I sincerely wish everyone who interviewed the best, and to those who were hired, congratulations! It is a glimmer of hope, and an opportunity for a job which today isn't easy to come by. I just hope that those in the pool currently have jobs to support them until a class begins.
Until next time....

As far as your other comment, what I'm complaining about is what I thought you could have figured out from my first post. If their email declining me the job is in fact true to how it is written, it is implying that my qualifications and background were not what they wanted, and that my personal performance at the interview and previous accomplishments were not the basis of the decision. If they didn't like what they saw on my resume in terms of my "qualifications and background", they shouldn't have gone through the trouble (at my expense) of inviting me for an interview. I'm well aware that I didn't have to go, but being unemployed and in desperate need of a job, I would have been an idiot not to.

I have been unemployed and not flying since August. I received an email a month or so ago saying that I had been chosen for an interview, but that I must meet certain recency minimums before an interview was scheduled, and at the time I didn't meet them due to my lack of recent flying. I was told that if I logged 20 hours of flight time, got instrument current, and did 3 t/o's and ldgs in a twin, I could then schedule an interview. This is what I did, considering it would be a good idea for whoever my next prospect may be, Lakes or whoever.

I heard what you heard. Very possible there will be no more classes until August. Upgrades will continue, for now. We are held down by lack of airplanes. Plenty of EAS cities to take hold of. Why we are not able to secure more, I really don't understand. The airplanes exist, but we are not able to secure them....

What was your total time? Your case is really strange, I find it very hard to believe they're interviewing people that haven't been current considering they're supposed to have all these experienced people applying..... Unless you're one of those high time guys with 1900 time or something, why would a company make you do 20 hours for currency in the first place. I guess you do have a point.

I interviewed in mid March and was put into a hiring pool because I didn't graduate until May. My fear has been realized; as mentioned in the posts above, I got an email saying that all hiring is being suspended. And only a month away! I'm going to be doing the backstroke in this pool as it requires very little energy, and we'll be there for a while.
