Great Lakes Airlines Hiring???

Lakes doesn't care if you're furloughed or not. As a newbie, you are forced to sign a 15 month, $7500 training contract. Historically, many pilots have bailed at 15 months and one day because they get tired of the constant horrible treatment. So they don't care if you've been furloughed because they are still going to get their 15 months out of you.
By the way, there are currently 30-35 pilots at Lakes who are furloughed from majors and other regionals.

Aren't most of the furloughed guys on the captain side? Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know the FO side as well as the captain side. I'll tell you why it's my impression, though. I've spoken to multiple furloughed regional guys who put in their stuff at Lakes, even with resume' walk-ins, and almost every one never got an interview call. Then I end up seeing a bunch of low-timers show up on the line with no walk-in, no Lakes connections, no 121 experience, or anything. I don't see the rhyme or reason for why they select certain individuals for an interview, and not others. The only thing I can figure is that they are drawing names out of a hat.

Wow. They're taking on more furloughed guys than I knew about. I stand corrected. I guess I don't know the FO group as well as I thought I did. The furloughed pilots I know, who are not getting a call, must just be getting overlooked. I can see how this would easily happen, though, as I'm sure the number of applicants create a resume' stack about a 1/2 mile high.

Yeah, I don't know how they look at resumes at Lakes. I submitted my resume in Apr 08, got the interview Aug 08 and, then was in the Sept 08 new hire class. My other 2 bro's from Xjet had internal recs, I had none.
I agree the stack of applicants has to quite large in todays world.

Join the club. It's luck of the draw, I know someone that was hired with about the same experience as me, I'm still waiting for a response.

I agree that it's luck. I've been seeing a wide range of experience levels on the line. Why they call some and not others, I really don't know. Resume' walk-ins help, occasionally. But, I've personally been involved with, and seen numerous instances where it didn't do any good. If your resume' gets pulled out of the mile-high stack, your in luck! I believe they do divide them up into different categories, such as "previous 121", "previous turbo-prop", "previous jet", "previous flight instructor", etc. I don't know if they take a few from each pile, or what, but that's my impression.
