And you'll end up doing the same thing.......We all have to start somewhere. Unfortunately, every airline out there knows they can pay us crappy wages because there's 100 other 172 drivers out there who will do the job for less. This industry needs a serious pilot shortage. Law school or med school.

Yeah, people who are way over-experienced, with thousands and thousands of hours are taking jobs at Lakes to pay the bills, in order to keep from having their cars and house go back to the bank, and you think it's just a big joke??? Explain the humor in that, because I guess I'm not understanding. I'm not going to bash GoJet, but in a lot of people's opinions, Lakes is the more respectable option, even though the pay is lower. The aircraft has less than 1/3 of the seats, though. Lakes can be a great investment into one's future, if one is low time and just getting a start. With the current state of the industry, I don't think it's a place anyone really wants to go, just to pay to keep their house, or pay the bills. It's unfortunate when it becomes a necessity, for some people. That's not the way the whole "Lakes plan" is supposed to work. This is why the fight for change at Lakes is so important. We are well on the way to removing the Teamsters, and bringing in the UTU. Quality of life at Lakes means more now than it ever has, especially because so many are there not as a time builder, but as someone just trying to cover their monthly bills.

Upgrade as soon as humanly possible. I'm not saying the pay is great, but with income supplemented by a significant other, many people own houses, newer cars, etc.

I applied back in late December/early January. My times were 1000tt, 425me, 90 jet. Be prepared to be instrument and multi current, and have recent flight time in order to schedule the interview if they contact you. I had to do 6 approaches, 3 t/o and ldgs in a twin, and log 20 hours before I could schedule. For those of you who are currently flying, it will be no issue, its just I haven't worked in 7 months.

I was called today by Casey for an interview and the first three items he asked was:
1.) Have I flown 50hrs in the last 6 months? (yes)
2.) Have I remained multi current ie 3 touch-n-go's in the last 90 days (yes)
3.) Have I shot 6 approaches in the last 6 months (yes)
Not very demanding requirements but they can get away from you if you're not on top of it. My interview is at that end of the month.
