Just saw something interesting in the last few days.
I don't think this is a certain sign for SKW, but United is turning gates 69 and 70 in SFO into Express gates. The last trip I was on, the Bro was using 71 exclusively and they were putting 200s at 69 and 70. They've cut out little portions of the jetbridge to fit the RJ steps and they installed those absurd yellow railings to guide the cattle into the cave.
I don't think this is definitely for a huge SKW 700 expansion, but with all those 737s being retired I think many of the UAX carriers will see an increase in flying.

As far as I know, we are still taking delivery of some new UAX 700's....this was planned a while ago, the intent was to replace the Bros. But now it looks like the Bros are staying for a while too.
UAL has already done an RFP to replace mesa, SKW has a bid in for that as do other regionals. Everyone's just waiting for OJ to zig when he should have zagged...he cannot survive even one mistake at this point.

I figured it was time for the weekly SkyWest hiring rumor. I was talking to another Mesa pilot who says he has an interview with SkyWest in a couple weeks, which seems a bit odd. Anyone else interviewing with them soon or know about them resuming interviews??

This is true. Also heard the RFP has been signed for the Mesa flying. Its not if but when they can take it from Mesa and give it to Skywest. The only hang up is that United gave Mesa 22 million to overhaul engines that they never overhauled. So if Skywest takes those planes they wont fly them unless the overhauls actually get done. The question is who pays for the overhauls. Skywest doesnt feel they should have to since United paid Mesa to do it but they pocketed the money, United doesnt feel they should have to because they paid Mesa to do it. That leaves Mesa who should have done it but spent the money and now has no cash to do it. The sad thing is Mesa is still flying these planes around. Skywest has said they would not fly them without the overhauls. Safety first.

I spoke with the pilot recruiter a couple weeks ago about that "hiring for open bases as of 12/31/08 thing". She couldn't tell me why it said that, and that they won't be hiring for awhile.
*I wanted to ask her if she had any idea how cruel that mis-leading info is to the rest of the industry........
Good luck everyone!
