Is it possible that it was just a woman dressed up as a flight attendant for a "client" at that hotel?

That's part of what I was getting at with my post. It is dangerous to make assumptions about a situation based on what you see from across a hotel bar. I think it's entirely possible that there was more to the situation than what was superficially observed by the OP while he/she waited for their to-go order. It's also possible that facts of the situation are being distorted by the OP and subsequent posters in their zeal to catch someone "being bad".

Guys,

There are too many variables here to keep arguing about. Look at the original post and address the man's question: What should you have done? The same damn thing you should do ANYTIME you "think" you see someting that is detrimental to our profession...MAN UP and address it directly to the person whom you think is out of line. That's where you'd find out if she just got fired, or is drinking a non-alcoholic beer, or is out of line with her company policy, whatever. Bottom line, MAN UP and address issues directly with the people involved; don't hang this stuff out to dry here.

Bit irresponsible on the bartender's part I would say !
What the hell ever happened to common sense and responsiblity and I,m talking about both side's of this incident from the bartender to the F/A .

The Bartender should have stopped it....

Yeah, no one is responsible for their own actions. Maybe the government should do something about this....

For the record, if I were her CA, I would tell her to change.... just so I didn't have to listen to all the "did you see that" crap (or fuel for a forum thread).

My view there is reinforced by the fact that the OP felt it necessary to inform the entire world wide web of the place and time that he saw an FA in uniform drinking a beer at a hotel bar. Please see my earlier two posts on this thread.

What I disagree with here though is the idea that is contained in the OP's initial post and some follow on comments that the FA in question committed an act that she should be "hung" in your words for.

Again- Was she consuming alcohol on duty or in violation of time to duty regulations? I think we can safely say she was nowhere near an aircraft since the "incident" was seen in a hotel. As far as whether she was going to be on duty after consuming alcohol, it seems the OP's comments about what he/she overheard tell us that she had recently FINISHED her duty day?

Again- Does her company have a policy against consuming alcohol in uniform if it does not violate FAA and company duty/alcohol regulations?

Again- The OP was only there long enough to pick up some take-out food.
Was the FA staying at the hotel, or perhaps was she done with a duty period at home station and waiting to be picked up by a friend or relative?

Again- What apparent laws did she violate other than offending the OP's OPINIONS of consumption of alcohol in uniform?

Again- If the OP was a law enforcement or FAA official, what would the OP have found unlawful in what was seen? Would a law enforcement official resort to not questioning her, but instead contemplated taking an surreptitious photo of her and, more importantly posting garbage like the original post?

This is America still, right? Innocent until proven guilty? It offends me greatly that the OP has the apparent lack of judgement to post some innuendo filled, sensationalistic garbage like this in the first place.

WHAT LAWS OR FAA REGULATIONS were broken by the FA in question? Do we know if her company has a policy against responsible alcohol use in uniform when it does not conflict with company or FAA regulations?

I am thinking you took me wrong there. I'll shorten up. My point was to for the "OP", I am guessing original poster, to mind his own business and that if she is doing something wrong it will catch up with her sooner or later. I seriously doubt anyone's gonna die because she had a couple of beers. And as you said not knowing the situation you are pretty much setting your self up to look like a Jack Ass if you feel you need to be "Flight Crew Cop". Sorry for the confusion.

I don't agree. Who cares if you look like a Jack Ass to an idiot? I would have went up to here to ask what was going on, especially since she could be fired if an insider saw what she was doing.

Is it your business if she gets fired? if she gets fired, and you'd said nothing, would you feel bad? Or would you say "serves her right for being a moron..." I'd highly doubt you'd lose an hour of sleep over whether that flight attendant got canned or not, and i doubt you even lost an hour of sleep wondering if she could "complete her tasks" when she showed up at work the next morning. I'd assume she showed up at the bar, had a couple drinks, and took some dude upstairs to play "El Cap-i-tan", which clearly you weren't invited to. But honestly, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me, and probably shouldn't to you. If you're going to save some random employee with your gracious acts of kindness, let it be one of your own subordinates, and not some random girl who might have been attempting to get fired, so she could claim her unemployment right away as opposed to waiting several months.

You're right I could probably care less if she was fired, one less idiot we have to deal with. Would I support her termination? YES. Would I tell on her superiors? Depends on the situation. If a pilot can't drink in uniform, why would it be ok for a flight attendant?
