I guess if mom and dad are cutting the checks, who cares right?
A person can go to school anywhere they choose! Why do you even care what university he attended? Having toured some of these schools back in the late 90s, I can guarantee you the quality of the teaching, facilities, and opportunities will far exceed that of your average FBO. Can you get good flight training at an FBO? Certainly, yes. But there's a lot of things you can't do at an FBO. ERAU/UND/all the other 4-year aviation schools are the least of your problems. There is a whole list of flight training shysters that don't even offer a degree for about the same price!

Since when is it wrong for "mom and dad" to help pay for a child's education? As a future parent, I will hold myself responsible for a certain portion of my child's tuition. This is what responsible parents do.

Is it wrong for a person to buy a BMW vs. a VW??? I mean, they all have four wheels, a motor, and seats. Why would anyone ever pay more for a BMW than a VW? (Sorry VW fans)

On the other hand, the NAVY turns out good pilots too. The best pilots I've ever flown with came from the NAVY! Hey, it's free, you overpaid for your aviation education too!

Wow, struck a nerve with you didn't it? Here's some facts for you. Neither the Regionals nor the Majors care where your degree came from as long as it is an accredited school. They don't care where you got your ratings as long as you got them. So why on Earth would pay over $50K more to get the same exact results?

You speak as if you believe that pilots from embryriddle or any other 4 year aviation college are better than pilots from different backgrounds. It's really obvious that you really drank the Kool aid at your college, and you probably think you're better....bad news friend....YOU'RE NOT BETTER THAN ANYBODY IN YOUR COMPANY JUST BECAUSE YOU WENT TO RIDDLE!!!

See, because I care for my parents, even though, they couldn't pitch in towards my education, if they would've had the money, I wouldn't have let them cut a check for an extra $50K, just so I can wear a "club" jacket and hang out in a 9-1 man to woman ratio enviroment. I've flown with your type, and your arrogance and misguided believe that you're better and that you got a better education, always bites you in the rear.

All that being said, I have met some very nice folks from riddle and others who will flat out tell you how much they overpaid.

That is impossible today... find out how much it would cost start to finish tomorrow instead of comparing apples to oranges.

My over-priced aviation college taught me the difference between the words believe and belief.

Riiiggggghhhhhtttt, so its okay for you to criticize these folks and then depend on them for your paycheck.... wow what a great set of morals you have going for you there ace. You are right... they should just shut the school down, if for no other reason than to put YOU on the street... just to forward your message. If you hate it so much why don't you just leave, or do you really need embry riddle to survive? Why don't you look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself what your motivations really are? Mistakes or not, at some point we all look back in this industry and realize we were either lucky or unlucky, that is all. It seems so far you have been somewhat unlucky my friend, or maybe thats just your attitude.

You're the one who is arrogant. You somehow think you're better than somebody else because you managed to get the deal of the century on flight training. If you don't like 4-year aviation degrees, great! I'm glad you didn't get one! Spare us the heartache.

I don't take your personal attack to heart. There's plenty of folks around here that know my true character.

I didn't go to Riddle. I have friends who did and they don't think of themselves in any great light like you portray them. I also know plenty of people that like to stir the Riddle pot like you... and they're extremely annoying to say the least.

Just stating the facts...the truth hurts. If you get annoyed that easily, then maybe you should consider a career change.

Oh and by the way I didn't get the deal of the century, I just did my homework, it's a shame I missed out on the cool "flying club" jacket, the awesome "top gun 172" videos, and the absentee female population for an extra $50K....(sarcasm in case anyone miss it).

Dude,

There's absolutely no correlation between what I wrote and what you wrote, in fact most of it doesn't even make any sense. If you want to re-write it, then maybe we can all understand what you're trying to say.

I was taught that a diamond will shine wherever it is polished.

Meaning, it doesn't matter where you go to school.

If you study, work hard, work well with others, and have a positive attitude, you will get far in life.
