Hey heres some food for thought, The age 60 increased to 65 actually helps a lot of us now, how so:
1) if those guys retired next year, some of us would be say 1-2yr regional fo with roughly 1-2,000hrsTT, fast up in the ranks of the regionals but not quite to the majors when the hiring boom hits
2) now when those same guys retire in 4-5 yrs, the same pilot will possibly be a regional capt with 4-5,000tt and PIC turbine to boot, boom bam straight to a major
My point, every cloud has a silver lining, everyone who is discouraged now, myself included, could be in real good shape for the next boom, assuming of course we stick it out, and the economy recovers. Just a thought that mabye some hope exists for us that are up to our necks in debt trying to fulfill a passion...Keep the Faith

If your on furlough like I will be in another three weeks, find somthing to do to hold out and support your family, till this blows over, Im going back to driving a truck, and by all means dont give up your seniority number, wait for recall if you can, and hang in there..

When 2012 rolls around and the major airlines start to see more and more retirement papers handed in, what kind of hours will be required at the regional level? I ask because some people on here say that gone are the days of 500hr pilots at the regional level.

Either that or we are out of oil, either way the world ends..

theres a better chance the world would end before we run out of oil. dont be so quick to believe there would be a "shortage" im pretty sure it would just be gone...but what do i know.

I have been saying this for well over a year now, and most people I talk to tend to agree.

See you all at American/Airways when it goes junior as HELL.

Though I like to keep the dream alive as well, just when things start to pick up again, cabotage(sp?) will be just starting to really get going and US airlines will be underbid by foreign airlines doing US Domestic flying for dirt cheap..............

You just cant win................but then again the poor ol' pee-on American worker was always meant to be kept down, its the low-life CEO's and Bankers who put the country in the shape that its in who receive huge admiration,payouts/bailouts/vacations after getting bailed out etc......

I am off to an island where my days will be spent eating coconuts and drinking red-stripe
