When will Eagle get a bigger airplane...
Okay hopefully this won't start a big scope/regional/mainline argument...however me and the crash pad mates are arguing about it now...
what are the chances of eagle getting bigger aircraft anytime soon? E170s? Crj700s? will we have to wait for the new contract 2012? sooner? later?
on the commute today the eagle 135 i was trying to get on was restricted to 31 people! that's like a turboprop for jet costs...
i think we won't see bigger airplanes for sometime...the roomates argue that we ll have 170 and 190s by 2012...

I believe that Eagle is currently restricted to operate Aircraft with 70 seats or less.
Im not sure about the contract stipulations, but it is as per agreement with AMR.......I really like Eagle, and would really like to get a job with them when they start hiring again here in a couple months. I know the upgrade time is long, but the QOL and the people that i have met through Eagle seem to be pretty good quality folk.
Plus, if they still offer base choice upon hire, that would be something that would be amazing.
Back to the topic though, hasn't eagle posted pretty steady quarter profits? If they keep the routes that they have, and possibly look into some more long haul routes, ill bet that some E190s or E170s could really put some money into Eagles pocket. Top that off with the fact that they just got rid of all their Saabs, and parked most of their smaller less profitable ERJs.......It could be something to look into.
Idk, just some thoughts that i have absolutely no basis for.

I don't see it happening. Though thats what the company is proposing. One list is more likely than that. Plus you don't want E170's at Eagle or any regional. I'd like to see jobs created at mainline not the regionals. E190's they might as well forget it. Even USair wouldn't allow that. For right now E175's draw the line. I don't see anything bigger being flown by a regional. Also, I don't doubt they need 70-100 seaters. Who flies it, who knows. Pray its mainline.
