Would Delta even have this choice to make if it weren't for the "we'll wear your colors and fly for less" crowd?

The only reason that people are able to assume that Delta will ax Comair is because the subcontracting companies are around to enable Delta to do so.

What makes you think Mesaba is responsible for all of the so-called Comair put down comments?? I really haven't seen any significant bashing of Comair at all from the Mesaba group. There are a lot of assumptions about what might happen. But by saying Comair might be the one "out the door" after the merger is NOT bashing. Pure assumption. You're being pretty sensitive here Mr.... I NEVER ever hear anything bad from our pilot group about Comair. We have complete respect for those guys/gals. You want to see bashing/hating???...start talking about GoJet. So NO....we do NOT hate Comair. Get over your problem with Mesaba.

Well, Compass, Comair, Mesaba and whomever are wholly owned should be prepared for a huge whipsaw like AMR did with the multiple subcontractors all flying as Eagle back in the early 90's. The Eagle guys took a 16 year contract that really sucks in exchange for a single pilot list.... well it sux by todays standards, back then it was pretty good.... most of the rest have caught up by now. Anyway, then the scope section was so poorly worded that it allowed them, years later, to subcontract with TSA and CHQ... setting up yet another round of whipsawing.

Watch your six guys (and gals)

Here's a wild guess. Mesa is gone whenever Delta can. 2 or maybe all 3 wholly owns are merged. PNCL loses 200's in the 900 exchange (don't remember the ratio)...

The -200:-900 ratio is 1:1 since we are already down to our min number of 124 -200's.

Well, at least there is SOME good news on the horizon. Whenever the economy turns around (my guess 2nd quarter '09), the demand for seats will surely return. Whenever the US and European economies turn around, Asia will resume its sickening expansion and will need more pilots. Things are still going pretty strong in the Emirates too. Why do I bring these things up? I think things will be better for all of us when the mainlines are healthy and there is a renewed worldwide demand for pilots.
