Sorry, that was a useless piece of information.
Haha! I guess I should rephrase: Multi + Single + Zero-engine = TT

For my interview last year, I brought both my paper logbook and the logbook pro printout. The paper logbook only contained information up to the point of starting my electronic logbook. The interviewers did not have any problem with the electronic version. Too me it looks much more professional and organized than my own handwriting. As far as losing the information, it is much easier to make copies of an electronic file. You simply save it to a rewritable DVD or you can just email the file to yourself. Much more ways to create backups than having a paper logbook. Also, when it comes to filling out an application, you can filter out any time that you need. This saves a bunch of time and eliminates math errors.

Well as I mentioned that my BlackBerry had died, when I went to Verizon yesterday they said they'd be unable to help me with a lot of things, and gave me a used blackberry for free. They wouldn't even transfer my contacts. Sooooo, I did what any impulsive airline pilot would have done. I went right across the street and bought an iPhone and canceled my VZW contract! Now I have fixed my logbook problem, and I have LogTen Pro on the iPhone and computer and they sync up seemlessly. It's perfect!

A lot of pilots record their OUT/IN times on every leg in the little red book and then transfer it over to their paper logbooks, like the Jeppesen Professional Logbook, or electronic logbooks, like the Logbook Pro, when they get home. It's your choice. I personally like electronic logbooks because of the ease of updating. My airline allows me to download my block times and then I upload them into my elogbook. Done. (I also do backups regularly.) As for interviews, as long as it looks professional and you can find certain milestones, the recruiter isn't going to care. Professional appearance is the key. As an example, I have one friend who just got hired by Southwest and he had paper. Another friend was hired by Emirates and he used an elogbook and printed out his hours. So go with what your comfortable with. Almost the Speed of Sound Products.

Also, if you are serious about becoming a corporate or airline pilot, get the professional logbook with 100s of pages and not the "Discovery Flight" logbook. You'll be glad you did when you carry and update only one logbook.

Or when you lose that one book. I recommend the cheaper, thinner ones. Leave the full ones at home in a safe place, and make sure you have copies in a place completely separate and free of floods, earthquakes, etc.

Then, just carry the simple, cheap, and smaller and lighter version. When it's full, get another. No chance of losing everything from one simple mistake.

Just keep your little red books. I know two people who went to VA with company printouts, their very very old original logbooks, and a box full of little red books....

I'm doing exactly what you're doing... just backed up the Verizon Palm Treo to my computer, and I did check out the Blackberry Storm this morning, but for the same money, I can get the iPhone.

I emailed the guy at LogTenPro and asked if the program would work on the Treo (windows mobile 5.0) or the new Storm operating system. I got this response:

"Unfortunately the Blackberry OS and development tools don't come close to offering the depth and scale of the iPhone platform. I don't have any plans to build an app for the Blackberry at this time. Windows Mobile is worse.

Cheers,

Noah"

I have to change phones anyway, since the Treo (CDMA technology with Verizon) doesn't work overseas. And even if I get the Blackberry phone, the Verizon international rates were WAY higher than AT&T.

Gotta pay $80 to get out of my Verizon contract, though.

Personally, electronic logbooks seem like overkill, unless the company you work for wants to see it electronically.

+Creates an electronic paper trail. What if you wanted to go work at Area 51 some day, how would they make you disapear?

Default More Logbook Stuff

I'm in the process of doing my resume'. I noticed that there is a 45hour difference between my total time and my Multi-engine and single engine time combined (no logged glider time). Anyone else ever seen such a logbook mismatch? Also, instrument time, combine actual and simulated...right?

Thanks.
