I won't even begin to discuss this as I am an FO trying to upgrade..... Needless to say some are not happy campers over THREE spots! Convenient that its kept within 90 days for the company.

Well I think those guys are junior but still.... in your personal opinion should those guys get a shot a the slots they held or should you get a go at it? I'm not trying to stir up anything just curious.

they created this vacancy just so the guys that were supposedly going to be displaced to fo's can stay in their captain seat. i am fine with that. that way everyone wins with the displacement and nobody loses. the guys that volunteered for it will get a huge chunk of cash for christmas, and the guys that were getting displaced back to fo aren't anymore. i dont think we will see another vacancy till january. we all know how they hate doing training over the holidays because of the difficulties of scheduling. lets just get through the holidays and then hopefully we will see some movement. i went up 3 places last month!

Still in negot.'s. Hopefully, we have a more labor friendly environment with the NMB and an Obama presidency. This could mean new contract soon, or it could mean release and strike. If we don't lose any a/c, I think we should be interviewing again in Jan/Feb 09...Even losing just 5-7 pilots a month should have taken it's toll (even by mgmt's standards) by then.

How big is the pool? If they take 10 a month, how long will it take to draw down the pool?

Been hearing that they have around 200 in the pool so i feel it will be quite a while before the pool drains out. Thats because they are probably not going to have 20+ people in class every month for a year or so because not alot of additional flying and no as such additional airplanes. the ones coming next year are just going to replace the current freedom fleet being operated by 9E temporarily.

So with regards to interviews, I personally feel they wont be doing interviews for quite sometime. maybe even after the summer just because the pool is so big and not a lot of growth. But this is just my reading and I sure could be wrong.

I think the company did this to keep people where they need them- its much easier and cheaper to keep a couple street CA's opposed to training them as FO's and a couple months later opening a vacancy and having to put some 3 year FO's through an entire upgrade class/OE and then pay them a higher rate. Timing is everything and at the time there were many "quicky upgrades" and I have not had a problem with any of these guys (except 1 that prof standards had to take care of).
