A captain I flew with once, only 2 months before 9/11, once told me that "this industry is like Musical chairs: make sure you have a seat when the music stops."

At the time I was close to upgrade and the industry itself was slowly getting bad. I didn't realize how prophetic those words were until the 2nd airplane hit the twin towers.

One company may be great and dandy this year, but who knows what's going to happen next year or next month or next week. You may get all that great "Jet PIC" and get on with SWA or FedEx or whomever, doesn't matter... but ANYthing can happen in this business and you better have a chair to get to when the sh!t hits the fan. Don't let your ego get in the way of wise choices.

With the way things are now, is PIC time in a Twin Otter worth that much? Would someone like Airtran just laugh at me and say " Your PIC is worthless, you don't even have to bring up the gear"

If you are flying the canyon then your next move will be to a regional. The majors like 121 IFR PIC time to more than just one destination.

Enjoy your career as a Saab driver because without a little risk you will go nowhere.
