Didn't Eagle just close a base earlier this year because they wanted to save money? and now the rumor is they want to open a MIA base....

Based on all the new Eagle RJ flying, it makes sense that a base is finally opened at MIA.
Effective November 19th: 1x TYS, 1x SAV, 1x CHS
Effective February 13th: +1x BNA (1x mainline)
Effective April 6th: +1x CHS, +2x ATL (4x mainline), +1x JAX, +2x BHM, +2x PNS
New Eagle terminal at MIA opens in September 2010. Eagle is at 45 daily flights right now, most ATRs. But it will go to 70 by April (roughly split ATR/ERJ) and 100 by December (roughly 40 ATR/60 ERJ).
Hard to imagine having 60 daily ERJs and no pilot base. And most of this is new flying, not mainline replacing.

Really, RDU had that amount, and since shuttung BOS as domicile, the number of flights are increasing to about fifty now and while JFK opened up with one overnight aircraft, BOS has 9 overnighting aircraft per night. My point, number of flights a city has does not make a domicile. Because BOS still has more than JFK and about eaqual to LGA and BOS is still closed. And they are paying through the nose for at least 21 jotel roome per night 7 days per week, for what was free before.

...and a lot of guys who used to be Boston based and live in the area go home on the overnight if they can swing it...I know I used to. This makes for a lot of empty hotel rooms that eagle is paying for. I remember right before I was furloughed I flew with a captain who was telling me about the amount of money it cost a month to provide hotel rooms in Boston, the amount it took to close Boston and open JFK and the amount the displacements cost. I can't remember the figure but they were astounding to say the least.

IS it true?
I heard from a buddy that is still flying at Eagle,(hire date 12/08), that AMR was sued VIA Eagle for flow through? That 500 + captains will be allowed to flow up to AMR??? Could it be true? The same F.O said Eagle would be getting about 22 700's in the coming year's, so maybe this might shake up some hiring in 2010. Just another rumor, I won't believe too much of it until I have my class date back.

If they do, I wouldn't expect to see 500hr pilots getting hired, with the amount of people on the street. It might actually be competitive for once in a long time? my two cents.
