Work anyplace else before that? You have seemed awfully opinionated to me for such a newbie.

I have a question that has run past my mind several times. Maybe a few “informed currently employed pilots” could answer for me. (No speculation please, back your information up) I currently work for a 121 carrier who has several furloughed pilots, and I myself have been displaced; I also understand the importance of proper contract use. With that said; the new crjs are going to LGA and JFK, I was informed by a captain that they were in essence displacing some of the erjs to other bases. With the provision in the contract not allowing pilots to bid from one jet to another, will current pilots be allowed to bid from the erj to crj (it only seems fair) since their current aircraft will be reduced from their domicile. I would hope that ALPA and the pilot group would not allow individuals to be displaced from their bases simply due to a change in aircraft operating certain routes. It would hardly be appropriate for a new hire to take a spot in someone else’s base thus displacing them. Thank you for all those who provide legitimate answers and not just speculation and rumor.

If you are displaced at Eagle then you can bid into any position that your seniority can hold. This means that an ERJ pilot in LGA/JFK who is displaced can then bid for one of the new CRJ seats. They can also Proffer to Displace which means that they can take a junior pilots displacement if you are senior to them if you otherwise would not have been displaced.

The company periodically announces Vacancy/Displacement Bids which increase or decrease the number of pilots necessary in a bunch of different equip/bases/seats company wide. They just finished a Vacancy bid for the first batch of CRJs going to LGA with about 42 openings for CA and FO spots in LGA. The captains can bid from the ERJ to CRJ without any issue since the payscale is higher for the CRJ. It gets a bit trickier for FOs...

As a jet FO at Eagle you cannot bid for any other equipment payscale that is equal or lesser then your current status. (Switching from LGA ERJ to ORD ERJ is perfectly fine, no change in equipment). There were several LGA ERJ FOs who put in a bid for LGA CRJ FO on this latest vacancy, but the company didnt award them the spot. There is also a clause in our contract that states if new equipment is brought to a base then the pilots should be able to bid it regardless of their current status. So we will see what the eventual outcome is.

There have not been any LGA ERJ displacement announcements yet, but common sense would say there will be some coming due to the planned reductions in LGA ERJ flying. This would be another way for LGA ERJ FOs to get awarded LGA CRJ FO. WHen you are displaced from your status you can enter a displacement preference for any equipment as long as your seniority can hold it. If you are a super senior LGA ERJ FO you can also chose to get displaced before a junior LGA ERJ FO gets the boot (also allowing that senior guy the chance to get LGA CRJ FO).

It is a complex process and I hope I explained it in a way people can understand.

I appreciate the information, and it makes sense. It is very similar to a few provisions in my current contract in regards to furloughs and forced moves. I don't care much about what equipment I personally fly. I am in the pool at Eagle waiting on a class date just hoping to be ORD based, so I can be done commuting for work. I hope everything works out for the guys in NYC.

Apparently it ends ea, I googled it and it belongs to some bank and it is planning to operate it under eagle airlines". sounds a bit out there, anyone else hear this story ?

Seems to me like American is one of the only carriers left without a large regional plane. Everyone else has CRJ-900s or the EMB 170/75/90/95. I'm sure if Eagle took on larger aircraft those at AA would go nuts, but how much longer until Eagle has to follow suite? Any insights?

Sounds like AMR didn't pay cash for these jets.
