Default Asa Pbs

Well, it seems that ASA ALPA flip flopped and is now ready to cave on PBS.

Discuss...

Personally, I liked PBS at my last carrier, even when I was at the bottom. It just depends on the software they use.

Why are we not holding this as a bargaining chip until the next negotiations? We could use some improvement on some things, for example; the schedulers abuse their power by converting long calls to short call even with massive overstaffing just because they can. I doubt ASA will offer up a contract that compensates for inflation next round, certainly for many people on the current contract inflation will significantly outpace their pay increases. Let's not give things away without reciprocity.

PBS Sucks. Unless your senior and you get everything you want. But as a junior guy at comair 4 years ago, I couldn't touch a weekend off. With hard lines I can get at least one or two even as the bottom guy, depending on the line construction.

PBS would be great at ASA if they apply vacation after the line is built so trips touching the vacation are dropped (or like NJA with four days before and after a vacation that they cannot schedule). Seven days of vacation should be the same as seven days of work. But I'll put money on the company being able to put a four day trip on each end of the vacation.

ASA MEC needs to take the DELTA MEC to dinner at Spondivits and take notes from DAL on how to properly manage PBS

See, that's what I'd like to know. This being the biggest economic recession in 80 years, I'd think we'd be ill advised to enter negotiations right now. We know the company wants it badly, so let's make them wait and up the ante in our next contract!
