Okay...so before I have to go and ask them myself (which I will!), I heard that the TSA agents cannot even take the badge home - that they have to sign it in and out at every shift. Any thruth to this? Reminds me of that incident at the Cubs game - did the drunken agent actually whip out a badge?

I was in Jackson Hole, WY a couple days ago coming home from vacation with my wife, going through security in uniform, and the TSA guy, after scanning my bag, looks up from his glasses and says "Who are you with??" then gets up and grabs my badge, as I tell him "Chautauqua, we mostly fly in the east, if you havent heard of us." He looks at me suspiciously, then calls the sup over, still not letting go of my badge, who proceeds to tell him to let me go, she hadn't heard of us either, but she said she trusts me....gotta love it. I dig the new uniforms though...they're light blue enough so they're not confused with cops, and they're not similar to our uniforms anymore.

Claiming he was a federal agent couldn't keep a Chicago man from being arrested at a Cincinnati Reds Game on Saturday.
According to court records, when a concession employee working the View Level at Great American Ball Park refused to serve alcohol to 26-year-old Rafael Rosario, the Cubs fan asked two more times.
When Cincinnati Police asked to see Rosario’s I.D., he tensed up and claimed he was a federal agent and the officer had no right to see his I.D.
Records show Rosario is employed by the Transportation Safety Administration at O’Hare Airport in Chicago.
Police say he gave them an Illinois state drivers license, not a federal I.D. Police note Rosario, who was wearing a red Cubs shirt and blue Cubs hat, refused to cooperate with officers and had blood shot eyes and smelled of alcohol.
Rosario appeared at the Hamilton County Courthouse Monday with Cubs hat in hand for his arraignment on a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated. His next scheduled court date is October 3.

The next step in the TSA Uniform Enhancement Project is the addition of combat boots with Velcro straps (laces are too difficult for them), blousing their pants into their boots like WW2 paratroopers, and Kevlar vests.

So the TSA is false security for a threat that does not exists, or very unlikely for that matter. Terrorists are not dumb, they understand that even with assault rifles they will likely get jumped on if even thinking about going to the cockpit in an aircraft. They new that the mentality back then was that cooperation was the key to success and they capitalized on that thought process, plus the use of fear, nothing else.
Now what has the TSA done that couldn't have been done with the old system and the savings of billions of dollars on a new department, Homeland Security, that's running above govern't rules. And speaking of Homeland, don't we already have the FBI, CIA, DIA, and I'm sure a few others already in place, Bureocracy was the biggest factors of 9/11, countless reports already talked about the potential of airplanes being used as WMDs but they were neglected. More government only fuels more bureocracy.
9/11 happened and it was a very tragic day that will always be remember, but we live in a free country and with freedom comes the risk of bad things happening. Yet Americans are so ready to give up freedom for a false sense of security that does not exists. I choose freedom over a perfectly safe totalitarian government.

Ok, Please remember a simple fact that the system before 9/11 worked just fine. The terrorists simply used items that were previously allowed, box cutters, and yes yes they said the had bombs, but I don't ever recall them finding such evidence.

Think I ran into the same shmuck last year--he seemed to not grasp the idea that there are indeed other airlines in the world outside of KJAC.
