I have plenty of gripes about the TSA myself, but it seems like you're suggesting we don't need them because of the revolt that would ensue after an attempted hijacking? I agree as well profiling works, but you need to go beyond just a persons ethnicity.
No, I don't mean get rid of security, I mean go back to what we had before TSA, and although you are right that other groups had done acts of terrorism, at present the middle eastern extremest muslim is the current treat and the only group to use a civil aircraft as a weapon.
See the terrorists won by the simple fact that we gave up a lot of freedom we enjoyed before their attack and currently live in a estate of paranoia. Like I always say, I can't wait for someone to swallow two chemicals in condoms and try to get it through security. Why, because I want to know what will the next step be. Human x-rays, full body cavity search? When will the madness stop.

Default Profiling.

The world is a dangerous place and aviation is under the microscope because of what a few lunatics did to innocent. We are all pilots and we deserve to be safe and our students/passengers/cargo/airplanes should be safe as well.

To say that "Muslims" are to blame or are terrorists, that phrase or even the thought is as wrong as two left feet. There are good and bad in every society, culture and religion. It just so happens that all we are shown is the worst part of that world. The few crazies and extremists are disproportionatly shown to us via the media.

We never hear "Timothy McVay a Christian Terrorist", the KKK Christian Terrorists, the European immigrants who massacared the Native Americans and stole their land Christian terrorists, you get the picture.

The issue is that alot of people have a gross misunderstanding of religion. The principals of every religion are virtually the same. Don't rob, cheat, kill, steal, sleep with somebody's wife/husband, and DO all the stuff that is morally correct, shun that which is not. But most killing has been done in the name of Yahweh, Allah, Jesus, etc. Nuts!!! Pull the LABELS off of religion and get around the differnces of EXPRESSION of faiths and you have a common thread.

The fact is that there are loonies all over the world. Profiling is wrong. Everybody should be treated equally under the law. If there is PROOF that a person is a terrorist, I mean EVIDINCE, then that person should be detained. But if they are just a victim of profiling, like my (at that time) 2 year old son at DTW a few years ago...c'mon.

**Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

At DCA I have had plainclothes TSA try to enter the employee elevator without ID displayed claiming they left it in the crew room. Promptly told them to get off the elevator and call their supervisor to come escort them. That was when he pulled out his TSA ID made a flip comment - you pass - then walked off the elevator.

What a crock of shieet Wanna save the budget? Eliminate the TSA and bring back private contractors but require better training oversight and hiring qualifications. There was/is no need for it to be a ginormous Govt agency that it has become.

I'm a hardcore liberal....and even I want the TSA gone.

Think if Boeing took over the operation (a-la a Jeppesen-esque operation)....that makes me moist...

The porn arrest bothers me the most given the fact that we're sending kids through the microwave and sending the photos elsewhere.

Just when you wanna make the flip comment back..."well you're lucky you produced the ID when you did cuz I was about to drop you like a narc at a biker rally...have a nice day." If only....
