Don't worry... There are more folks out there. Being by the book and trying to screw the company are two different categories. That being said I am not one to "help out" with picking up the open time, dropping the brake without a cargo slip, opening the galley door, etc. Truth of the matter is there has been little or no excuse lately- and there won't be until the winter weather arrives. Hourly employees are ruled by fear and mgmt is great at making everyone think the "sky is falling". That being said- CONTRACT NOW!

you can add me. i am like higney. im not a captain, but most the guys i fly with want to get out on time, and want to run a good airline. i think that is what is going to go good for us in dc also. we haven't been doing anything to cause the company harm. we have been running good and flights have been ontime. but on the other hand i do not pick up open time. i do not anser the phone for junior man assignments. i will not go the extra mile till the company recognizes the hard work the pilots are doing.
Airsupport... you live in MEM? I think we need to organize a saucer night with all the PNCL folks on this board....

You guys think that i am the devil for saying you need to give management a reason to sign the contract.
Again, why would management sign one when you perform like you do.
"ok pilots you have gotten us more flying and performed ontime and done a good job so lets give you a bunch more money and better work rules as a result'.
In a perfect world yes but why would they wanna spend more money on you when youre doing a perfectly fine job for the pay and rules you have now. They have ZERO motivation because they will tell you to do something and you will and they will continue to drag out the contract talks.
Again, why would management sign one when you perform like you do.

It's not the pilot's job to get more flying. That is a complete management function. The addition of flying is a management success. A reduction in flying is a management failure. Pay cuts, concessions and worsening work rules do not lead to additional flying, neither in terms of block hours or airframes. Just ask any Comair pilot.

Obviously that is true but the pilots gotta be bringin those birds in ontime to get and keep flying.
So it falls back on the pilots. Lets say you guys are slowin it down a bit, makin a couple flights late here and there and suddenly and the company gets passed over for new flying they will start to think "hey we better get that contract with the pilots signed so this doesnt happen again".
This is a very dumbed down version of how things would go but you get my point. Dont think that I am the only person who thinks this way.
Look at United, NWA, Fedex in the past, US Air........... the list goes on.

I really think you guys are gonna get the freedom 900's. Check out the schedules for October and November. You guys are getting a ton of stuff out of CVG. They are moving alot of freedoms 900 flights out of jfk to comair.
