I started this thread several days ago because I heard something in ops(something from a very reliable source IMO). I said I heard we might be getting some more Delta flying; I never said that flying would take away from ASA's so I don't know where you guys are getting that. Now this thread has turned into a war. I'm pretty new to this website, and I have never once flamed anyone at any other airline, so I would appreciate it if you guys didn't come on here and do the same. Thanks to the rest of the 9e guys for making good points, but no one has confirmed nor denied this rumor. Some real info would be appreciated.

FWIW I have heard of NO rumors about future flying (increases). I personally would not expect any significant changes until the merger is complete, at which time I would expect some 200's to be parked and the scope clause to be tapped out with 70/76 seaters for all the remaining DCI carriers. Thats just me though. I think PNCL is relatively "safe" yet stagnant for the next couple years. A pilot contract and fuel costs will directly impact the future of this company. We can all speculate though.

We (ASA) lost flying to 9E??? that is news to me. As far was I know all DCI carriers are seeing line reductions. 9E flying out of ATL is no different than Comair and Skywest. 9E is mainly a NW regional right now anyways. No one knows what will happen after the merger and we have a 15yr contract. Why lose sleep, argue and stress over all this??? 9E comes to ATL so be it. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't our contract give us 80% of DCI flights out of ATL? Ain't ATL just an 900 base for 9E and 11 900s at that. The way I see it 9E got what Mesa lost sooooo.... WHO CARES... 9E guys need a JOB also man. I have friends there that I wouldn't want to see get skrewed. There is still plenty of DCI flying for everyone.

So I am one of the people who is going over the ATL side of 9E. I was awarded the vacancy before we "lost" the contract with Delta and was very happy when we "reacquired" it. That being said, I will address the rumor. I have no inside source, nor have I heard any rumors, this is just my opinion.

The 08-06 vacancy was put out with the idea that we would need more pilots to staff the increase in planes out of ATL. This increase in planes will not happen until January, but they are still moving a few of us down in October. They are also moving people in Sept, and a place in that class was offered to me this past Friday if I wanted to move early. I was offered this while calling to get out of my October move though, so I didn't accept. I was, however, told that I would be needed in October and that there was no way out of the move.

As I understand it, people are not getting much flying in ATL right now. Reserves are seeing 15-20 hours a month (please correct me if I am wrong). With people flying that little, it doesn't make any sense to me that the company would be increasing staffing without seeing an increase in flying. We are moving 10 FO's in December and another 16 in January. The math just doesn't seem to add up IMO.

Are we getting more flying? I have no idea. It just doesn't seem to me that the company would move that many pilots to a base and have us all fly under guarantee for a higher hourly wage. Then again, not a whole lot about airline management makes sense to me. It just seems like they know something we all don't.

But there I go thinking again We all know how that ends up.

are you guys still staffing the 900 at seven crews per aircraft..... which is forty percent above what most regionals staff their aircraft...... the one pinnacle guy I know in atl flew 9 hours in the past month.

We are overstaffed up the wazoo in ATL with "hot spare" crews at the ready. Management is super paranoid about not cancelling or delaying any flights because of crew availability.

That said, yes the new vacancies look over and above both that level of staffing and getting ready for when we start putting the last 7 -900s online starting in January.

But I wouldn't necessarily take it as any kind of sign that at this point we're in line for any -900s beyond the original 16.

Let me go over the rumor once more. I "heard" that we might be getting more delta flying from an inside source who was in a meeting about it. There was absolutely nothing said about taking flying from ASA. This new delta flying could take place in JFK, LAX, or even Salt Lake City for all I know. You ASA guys need to calm down. If you are losing flying, it's not because we are taking it. Also, the rumor that I heard that this "new" delta flying is going to be in addition to what is already planned for January.

Look fella's,

I'm not starting any war. My point is, you should watch the tone of your gleeful posts on how great it is that Pinnacle is growing for Delta in ATL, when ASA is shrinking. You may not think that you are taking any flying from ASA, or replacing ASA, but you are - if you get more flying. Hmmmm, ASA parks 12 planes permenantly, and Pinnacle talks about growing by what, 12 or so 900's??? Hey, great for you guys, but think about who is down and out while you are rejoicing. And don't act like you don't, or aren't all excited. You are. (Or some of you are) You are getting growth in ASA's only backyard, which means upgrades, more line, better schedules while ASA just announced downgrades. Line-holders are moving back to reserve, maybe furloughs, etc... So keep the "hey guys, allright! We're getting more planes and growth in ATL" - to a minimum while others are suffering because of it. Next, don't hide behind the whole "we don't decide where we fly, it's management." We all know this. It is in the excitement of your fortunes, while you have no consideration to others misfortunes.
