It is some good flying there in the winter. It will get you a lot of experience. It can be a funbase because Colgan operates it and we are the only show in town.
I think it is an Essential Air Service route. I think they just re-negotiated the contract. I know they were trying to last fall. Will be a US-Air base with an A- Model SAAB as they switch them over to the New Paint. From what I am told the loads rarely fill the airplane.
Apply...but I think for the moment they are only hiring into the beach...but that will change as attrition moves.....I hope....

I know this may be a dumb question, but does Colgan look down upon people with turbine PIC time? When I apply, I'll probably have something like 250+ turbine PIC in a King Air. The reason I say that is because their interview gouges rarely show applicants with such time. Also, as a consequence of my King Air experience mean that they will probably throw me in the Beech and not the SAAB?
Thanks for all the input guys!

I've never heard of an airline looking down on someone for having turbine PIC time. They will likely ask you tech questions about it during the interview, but thats nothing new. We had guys who did the Gulfstream thing flying Beech 1900s in my Saab class. Its all about where they need you I s'pose.

Having the King Air time will not mean you go to the Beach...however they may look at the PIC and see that you might be an easy upgrade if you near the minimums for upgrade.
Where you go usually goes on the need of the company. If they are hiring into both aircraft it is a chance you could get either.
I have heard they are only hiring into the Beach right now as that is where the need is. I suspect that may change if there is attrition in the system.
I have heard rumors that guys who perform lower on the written test get offered the beach and guys with higher scores the SAAB. I have heard that as rumors...not verified.
Everything I write here is "Written in Snow" as things can change!
