PDT News and Rumors

Exactly. One thing the MEC is proficient at keeping us out of the loop. Remember the talks of the FO retention bonuses from earlier this year? I think the official word actually came from a MEC rep via Facebook weeks (if not a month) after the deal was struck down.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm really glad the retirement case from 10 years ago is still pending. That was a solid update this morning...

its free money
its take it or leave it
it is not negotiating capital, its "advertising" funds
if mec says no (like how they shortsightedly did last time) they just don't get it and pdt continues to stumble along like the undead lagging behind our bigger and better looking sisters
oh i get it, because the captains aren't getting as much, screw the fo's....the old pdt standard

Not taking the deal would be a huge mistake on PDT's part... the argument against the old deal not benefiting Everyone was plausible since it was only a FO bonus and the upgrade time was rather low.
This time around, every FO gets a pay bump to the maxed out scale, and a bonus where applicable, and CAs get a bonus too.
Setting PDT so far apart from the other WOs will kill it's desirability... especially since people expect them to be in line with the other WOs. With only one Hub base, if someone is going to commute to work for a WO, why wouldn't they commute to the ones that pay double?

The MEC is meeting with the company soon to discuss. I'd expect something will probably come out of the meetings this time. Honestly I don't really care one way or another. I'm just glad the MEC was trying to get an equitable deal. I never understood why we would incentivize being a first officer, especially at an airline that has very quick upgrades.

Well apparently our MEC either hasn't met to discuss it or decided to be super-righteous and deny the deal. If it turns out they can negotiate something better for all of our pilots, then praise is deserved. If nothing comes out of it and we don't get at least the same deal then they deserve a firing squad. This is a chance to get more people in the door and they better not screw it up...
