And where is Airways getting the money to foot this bill? Witht he cut back yesterday of not accepting any more planes then they absolutely need, and keeping an old fleet until they become profitable again. I just highly doubt that means any wholly own (PDT/PSA) will be growing anytime soon....

The rumor about this purchase of 200's seems to actually have some credibility, as a few of the higher-ups have maintained that it's a strong probability. The timeframe for acquiring these 16 aircraft is said to be April-May of 2010, which makes sense, since its exactly when Mesa is ending their Dash-8 operation. In addition to that, the company just announced that they're "projecting" recalls of our furloughed pilots in May. They say some of the 16 will stay out west, and the remainder will replace some of our aging 100-series aircraft. Apparently, newer 200's are less expensive than maintaining the old ones.
All in all, great news....if it happens. I'll contain my excitement until my butt is strapped to the seat and I'm pushing off the gate in a -200.
Happy Thanksgiving to our furloughed boys!

US Airways rose 7 cents to $3.17 at 10:05 a.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The shares have fallen 59 percent this year.
The carrier today said it arranged loans of $95 million and $180 million to finance planes being delivered next year, and deferred by 14 months the repayment of $200 million to Barclays Plc, US Airways’ affinity credit card partner.
Barclays also agreed to reduce by an unspecified amount the unrestricted cash US Airways must maintain under an earlier accord to buy frequent-flier miles. The requirement previously was $1.5 billion.
“We cannot continue to lose money indefinitely and fund our losses through financing and partner support,” Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker said in a message to employees.
US Airways will delay deliveries of A320, A330 and A350 aircraft, while accepting 28 new planes from 2010 through 2012. The airlines’ fleet has an average age of 12 years.
This is in no way proof that PSA /PTD is going to be growing but it is better news that anything you have brought to the table.

Plus you did read Parkers email yesterday right? Didnt sound like this was news that we should write home about. Rather we are delaying the delivery of planes that would be able to expand our structure and reach new potential. So until then we are going to be the airline with the worst routes still. Doesnt sound like a great news day for a strong and healthy airline... Just saying. DAL is talking about expansion and we are talking about the delaying of new aircraft... Where is this good news?

No the Mr Phuz being mature? Say it aint so.... You stop your crying yet? You seem to be the only PDT/PSA pilot I know to constantly have a chip on their shoulder towards the pilots of the brother/sister airline... Just remember sounds like your pilots are going to be back to their jobs early next year.... At which point 55 plus of ours will still be on the street for damn near 2 years at that time....

Heyas,
Not to bash PDT, since I was a resident for 5 years, but it's pretty sad that everyone is tweaked about possibly getting DHC-8-200s BACK from a bottom feeder.
Sadly, when I was at PDT, we got those very same -200s, tail numbers and all...upgrades were 5 years, and we were happy to get DHC-8s without 60,000 cycles on them (cough 906 cough).
I remember sitting through a day of "differences training", with old RT acting like the Universal FMS was programming for the Space Shuttle.
The APUs worked pretty well, though.
PDT has never changed since Dicky Henson sold the place. Never will.

Plus, I personally think it would be a nice change of pace to fly out west versus the boring congested northeast, although I would be happy just to be back flying period
