I have been at Piedmont for about 6 months and can say it's a blast. I rode the jumpseat on a 175 the other day, wow how boring was that! The dash, you get fly and will make you better pilot for you and your passengers in the long run. Piedmont may have it's up and downs but boys and girls get ready for a wild ride here in the near future, good things to come.

We still haven't gotten our 2nd 145s yet but upgrade is already down to 6 months as of last bid. If you're a captain already, upgrade training here shouldn't be too difficult due to your prior experience.

If your already a captain at another regional what, outside of the flow, motivates you to go to PDT? It seems like many of the Piedmont pilots I've talked to have apps out to a plethora of other airlines (especially once they get their 1000pic) and don't seemed to be very anchored to the idea of spending all the years at PDT in order to flow. It seems like the flow is only a backup plan in case they don't get hired on by any # of other non regionals and a bunch have jumped ship to the LCCs instead of waiting. Have you looked at the LCCs as a place to hang your hat until the big 3 call or are you set on AA?

Seems like all the relevant info is in this thread so you probably didn't miss much.

Flow is the major reason... I am at a regional now lft seat in a turbo prop, old equip and no union protection. The company is actually good to us and works with us as a pilot group, so really no need for a union on property, I am also home based.
I know it seems like I'm crazy but i feel kinda like im limiting my options by sticking around and am going to miss the opportunity of flying any new equipment with the chance to get to a major. I need to learn FMS/ACARS some day and would much rather do it now then if and when i do get hired by a major and wash out due to lack of knowledge..? Is it worth it??
