Not being funny or a smart aleck, I come from the rotorcraft world and was considering Piedmont - this doesn't seem very fast to me.

What am I missing here ?
The numbers are derived based on the fact that the top 80 or so aren't flowing by their own choice. So 400/4 = 100 months or 8.3 years. Still not as fast as the advertised 5 - 7.

The flow GROWS as we grow. No limit to how high. Goal has always been 3 airlines at similar sizes, similar contracts.
What's the number of pilots that makes increase the number of flows??
Like, how many have to be in the seniority list in order to increase to 9 or more the flow numbers?
Thanks

You're wrong. As we grow it increases, see my post at the top of the page. Easily 5.5 -6yrs if hired this year. It doesn't STOP at 4. It will be 9 in a little over a year

I think it's around 125 pilots for each additional flow. It's also important to point out that what's being advertise now is for someone getting hired in the near future.

The good thing at pdt now is, we have the flow plus the upgrade. Feel free to apply anywhere else, flow is a great backup.

Sure, just trying to figure a reasonable timeline to expect. Envoy is advertising 6 years so its on par with everyone else I reckon.

Yes, but make sure to look at upgrade times also. Don't just look at it as going to American. Upgrade in just over a year and build up that PIC time (along with a better paycheck) to get on with the other big carriers. Piedmont right now is a win, win situation unless you can find a carrier that is close to your current home.

Ask how many 50 seat jets were parked when fuel went over $100 a barrel.

My guess says the pilot shortage is here and is real.

When they are faced with parking E175's or E145's which do you think will get parked first?
I still cant see how people can be so excited to be getting jets everybody else is trying to get rid of.

I'm happy your guys are happy; but it's trading one run out fleet type for another aging type.

9 years to a Legacy is not bad really considering how many have been working for the regional airlines longer than you hoping for their chance to get hired off the street or flow. Time lines for flow and upgrade have variables associated with them, so be cautious basing any decision on that. Like others said you can also apply elsewhere in the mean time

Ok, taking your argument with the pilot shortage and in the event aag decide to park Pdt's a/c. You think they just going to let the pilot go and be on the street? We can almost argue that we are one of the most valuable asset now. Being excited or not, with the 145s, it's going to create movement and quick upgrades for those who qualified.
Again, choose the airlines that works for you now and not based on assumption.

Yes, agreed. A valuable resource. So, when that fleet goes away through fuel costs or large RJ staffing needs... will they merge, or recycle with preferential hiring? Which would you do?

We all know there won't be enough pilots. So, which plane gets parked first? The E145 or the E175?

You're correct, do what's right for you.
