With the projected increases in health care premiums can anyone with a family shed light on the monthly cost? A 20 year Capt at Mesa told me he pays $600/month for himself and the wife!

That's with the increase. I'm paying about $240 a month for the PPO family of 4. They have a high deductible plan now that would be significantly less than that. The PPO plan we have has pretty good coverage though.

That's not too bad at all considering what some folks at other regionals seem to be paying for health care insurance. I think that while first year pay is quite an important factor, it is best not to overlook health care costs, as it may actually wipe out any first year pay advantages others may offer.

Don't index anything to Mesa. Their bids, I've heard, are min days min credit. A min day bid at PSA is 90+ hours, a min credit bid is 15-16 days off. Then throw in the reduced pay scale, then the double insurance cost. Take home pay ends up being substantially less, or the same but with a week of extra days worked.
