This sounds the Piedmont way.

In an e-mail from ALPA - Although no furlough numbers have been posted by management, they anticipate 35 furloughs with 15 downgrades. This is for the "first round" of furloughs.

Furlough letters should be going out within a week.

Not as bad as I expected even for the first round.

JB was in CLT talking to people yesterday and said 15 planes are going to become idle from the LGA change. Maybe 2 to DC, 7 to cover the planes going in December. Still leave 6 planes idle. It doesn't cost Airways a penny to park planes that are owned out right.

No future here.

I am trying to figure this out...so when the furloughs and downgrades occur....can we be forced out of base? I have asked different people and I have heard yes and no. I updated my permanent bid on the website just in case. Also, I saw that they are trying to get something together for LOA and voluntary furloughs. Why would they not do that first before announcing how many furloughs? I know the answer....because they are stupid and have no idea the stress they are putting on their employees. If it is only 35, I will still be here...but I am not sure that this company is worth staying at. I flew 5 legs yesterday and we were overbooked on all of them. This is complete bull that we are not making any money. I hope US Airways realizes this quick when all of a sudden they are not brining in as much money as before. To those going to be on furlough, good luck...I will be joining you once the next round comes.

Yes you can be forced out of base. The people being downgraded have bumping rights, and can go anywhere where their seniority lets them hold a spot. For example say the bid comes out at LGA after the downgrades and there are 30 FO positions, and you are at the bottom of the FO seniority list at LGA. The Captain/s being downgraded their, will downgrade to the FO list there, and you can be bumped out of base. This happened to me with the furloughs that never happened. Same goes if you are at SBY and that LGA CA wants to move to SBY, he can bump you out of SBY. So it creates a big mess. Go Piedmont. I will be joining the unemployment lline come Oct. 1st it appears.

I hate to hear that you guys/gals might have furloughs coming soon. It's frustrating to be sitting on the sidelines and wondering what management is thinking. I hope that no matter what happens this will be a short term furlough for you.

PDT out of DC? I was unaware PDT even currently flew in and out of DC? Although PHl-DCA does make some sense and the DCA-HPN routes as well. Get our damn 200's off those and a more efficient plane. Only had like 42 on the DCA-PHL later run anyways. A good old 15 minute flight makes for fun!

Saw on the ask piedmont today that a reduction bid will be posted for October 1st AND one for November 1st. Guess Nov 1st is the second round. I will be out on the second round.

We do a very limited number of DCA flights. It's always routed through PHL to DCA. Usually it's weekend and holiday flying. There's a DCA-HHH, and HHH-DCA flight on Saturdays over the summer. I've also done DCA-GSO on a weekend. I also did DCA-BUF on July 4 - had a great view of the fireworks. PHL-DCA makes a ton of sense in a -300. So does DCA-ORF, DCA-RIC. But I don't work in marketing, so my logic doesn't count. Time to update the resume, IMO.
