The Piedmont name was resurrected in 1993, when USAir (now US Airways) renamed Henson to "Piedmont Airlines", to protect the Piedmont brand name, which could be used by others if not exercised in trade use for a period of time. USAir continued this practice by changing the name of its two other wholly owned regional airline subsidiaries, Jetstream and Allegheny Commuter, to PSA Airlines and Allegheny Airlines, respectively. (Pacific Southwest Airlines was the name of a California-based airline merged into USAir.) In 1997, USAir was renamed US Airways, and Piedmont was likewise re-branded as a US Airways Express carrier. US Airways merged Allegheny Airlines into Piedmont in 2004.

This is from the internet and history not my words PDTPIlotXX. For the record, I was in lower management at Piedmont (not flight ops) and know what actually took place. This is simply a fact check and have your facts in order if you want to challenge the facts.

Troll finished.
Just for the record, I would rather fly a Cessna 172 if it paid more than flying an E175. The airplane is irrelevant to me. And the fact that PDT is hiring into the Dash right now means the higher pay is what a new hire gets.

Default Not my point flight

And if you are one of those clowns willing to work for peanuts go work in a zoo. Not vitriol or angst but trying to stop people like you and PDT from screwing the rest of us who refuse to work for crap and fake promises. New hires should ALL be paid the same NOT less. Watch when PDT has to hire DECs. Let's see what they say then.

Until FO pay is equal to captain pay folks are always going to be able to earn more by choosing an airline with quicker ugprades. So if you want to solve the problem, start by leveling FO pay with CA pay. Then address pay differences between airlines.

Default Sorry!

For the rude comments. You too PDTPilotXX!

Is that not in fact the rub? Oooh quick commands and flow throughs. I have been to this dog and poney show before and it all ends in tears.

Also keep in mind, be careful what you wish for. I have a good friend who's a Captain at AA and it's horrible over there now with Parker and is ideology. Ask the USAir/AMwest guys and gals what they think of him. That merger is going to be a disaster! A DAL flow thru or UAL would be better I think.

Now you must be thinking about being able to stay at a place, and in the right seat, for a time if the promises don't happen. If that place is Piedmont for you or PDTPilotXX, so be it. We must not let these outfits win with dangling carrots in front of bunnies who are so hungry because it's a trick. I'm telling you it is. Would anyone else show up if they did not have these selling points? No!

Used car salesman tactics. And then when you drive off the lot, Ooops, the red light comes on and guess what it's not what you thought but you bought it and guess what your stuck with it!

Don't buy it and be stuck with it is all.

Sounds like you're describing every Regional Airline out there.

Bottom line folks is always do your research before making a choice. 2 years ago I would've advised NOBODY to come to Piedmont. Now looking at our future and the future of contract carriers I'd say Piedmont and Envoy would be the two best places to come too.

How do we stop a mentality like yours who says its ok to work for low wages? Commutair pays more to fly a Dash than Piedmont and a higher bonus.
How do you factor in we have lower wages??? You sir might be the idiot here? Compare Contracts and you'll see what sets us apart from not only Commutair but some of the other regionals. Compare our Health benefits and other Bennies (travel & Flow) with CommutAir. 15,000 dollar signing bonus?? Really? That's what you're going to base your info on? hahahahahahaahah. I wouldn't be surprised if we get even more CommutAir people then we do now. Did you know PLB's VOR used to be called the "Piedmont Learning Base" because so many lCommutAir pilots had come to Piedmont? Why they leaving??? Instead of looking out just hourly rates a smart person would look at the total package an airline is offering. Again who's the idiot???

CommutAir is a great airline but it looks like they can't get anyone to come there. Why???? Maybe because there upgrade is 3 years or more. Maybe some people don't like living in the Northeast. Maybe some people want to be part of a growing airline.

Every regional offers something the other doesn't. Piedmont is now about to see growth that has NEVER happened EVER! Why??? Because after holding the line for Years and Years while others flew RJ's less then what we Dash 8 pilots made is why. Hell back in the day our FA's made more then FO's at Mesa.
So excuse us if we want to throttle back some to enjoy growth that everyone else had over the years at our expense. Amazing how nobody gave a sh&t about us 3 years ago and now want to get all up in our bee's wax.

It's all good!

Folks Research all the regionals and see which has the best to offer you and your family. Remember all will try to get you to come. Piedmont's carrot right now is a fast upgrade and a full flow to American. Chose one that give you a less of a commute, but one that can also give you a timely upgrade. Remember the majors will be hiring big over the next 4-8 years. American alone is projected to hire 800 pilots next year.

The fact they have to offer any carrots says it all. Those promises can be changed as they so often have in the past. If it's really that great why do they have to keep advertising and constantly sending emails to say how great they are? It should speak for itself no. The truth is that they are trying to trick people into thinking it's something it's not. I'd like to be wrong but I have seen these promises before.

I want you to ask the AA Eagle/Envoy guys and gals how all these years working under AA has worked out for them?

Braniff, every situation is different. To be honest, despite the long upgrade time for me here at pdt due to stagnation over the years, I really enjoy working here. I think your problem lies with all regional at this point, there isn't 1 regional out there that isn't fighting to lure new hires (bonus, flow, quick upgrade etc...)

For any potential new hire out there, billy is right, do all your due diligence and choose wisely. Think what's best for your situation at this point of your career.

As has been said before, every regional airline is running ads for pilots like this now. I don't get your logic, you're saying an airline shouldn't advertise? Just let the job speak for itself? How are pilots supposed to hear about Piedmont and what it's offering in the first place? Plus, I doubt anyone takes a job purely based on a flyer. I'd hope people do a little more research beyond what the company advertises.
When I was hired at PDT, the Q400s were going to be delivered any day now according to JB, but talking to pilots on property I knew better. Still chose PDT for the contract and benefits. The truth is every regional has its negatives, if the contract is weak the growth is strong and vise versa. IMO PDT is offering the best of both right now, growth and a decent contract with benefits. If you are a halfway decent pilot and think you can pass upgrade after a year on the line, this is the place to be.
