Anyone have some useful insight for training. I go in on Monday and I just feel like I should be doing more than just flows and immediate action stuff right now. The tests were useful I guess but I feel like thats only the tip of the iceberg.

Not looking for snarkiness, just useful advice.

Study the limitations if u haven't done so already. Go into training humble and you'll be fine. Welcome to pdt!

Like Viper said start putting some of the limitations in your memory. If you get familiar with the flows and limitations that will help you put everything together when you get in the sim.

Get group studies with your new hires buds. If there's a upgrade class with you buy the upgrades a 12 pack of beer and then you'll make good friends and have guys that will help you a ton. Drink Beer's study and have a good goodtime studying hard. Work as a group and it's amazing how well you'll do.

You've hit the regional jackpot. Enjoy!

I just finished group school and in my opinion you have plenty of time to study everything given to you one step at a time when you get there. I made 100's on every test except systems. If i was you that where you need to get started with and hit it hard because that test is truly difficult comparing to the others.

Are you talking about the 3 tests given to you prior to training? I was under the impression that the tests in ground are similar to the ones prior to school. I'm planning on coming in with Limitations down cold and just some glances at flows. Do you think that's a good plan of attack?

I believe the take tests and the tests in class are different, but I would imagine it's somewhat similar. Knowing the limitations would definitely get you more time to study something else during ground school..ie : system, flows, immediate action items..... if you study after class, you would have no problem in ground school. Good luck guys.

Any news on being hired into the 145/PHL? How accurate is that 4 year flow time? Upgrade time?

Not til November. PHL is also a dash base. Hired today you will flow in 5-5.5 years. Upgrade is currently 1 year and 3 months.

Yes and don't get caught up in the flow and how people talk crap about it! An upgrade that low means PIC time quickly plus the great benefits offered by PDT. Health, Vision, Travel Priority etc. so if you want to go to Delta or United then it's your choice after getting the PIC time. Also remember it will start getting VERY VERY hard to get hired at American outside the flow with all 3 Wo'ed airlines. sending pilots each month. You'll have all bases covered. Get in NOW if you can!!!
