PDT News and Rumors

So starting Oct. 2nd, EWN only has one originator. PSA overnights a CRJ. We run 3 flights a day out of EWN while PSA runs 4. Not a good sign. 2 originators do return Dec 17th though so maybe EWN will become the new commuter base since we will deadhead everywhere (trying to think positive).

Where do you guys find out this info ahead of time anyways? I'm lost as to where you get it from. We have not heard a word about our fall flying at all as a pilot group. I was counting on major reductions again and us possibly letting some go?

Define 'fly'.
Yea 6,000 ft of runway is tricky ...
I think you are missing my point - A lack of motivation due to it not being a base for you folks results in adding 10 minutes damn near every time to the total duration of the flight.
Nobody should take EWN flying away from PDT as long as its our base. I guess you don't have a choice in the matter - so I wont hold it against you personally. Its the equivillant of your mgmt closing TYS and PDT taking over the majority of TYS flying. You'd be a little peeved too.
In addition many airports we land only have one runway we can use. It works out just fine for the most part. If we can make it into OAJ with only an ILS on the runway that seems to be the less favorable I think EWN will be fine.

Now by no means do we want to be taking any of the FLYING away from PDT guys. But I'd assume you all rather have us or mainline fly it before AWAC/RAH/TSA and others? Or we can let non wholly owns take it and never get it back

Fly? How do you define fly? We take an airplane from CLT-EWN... We land it and turn around and do it again... Last time I checked the RJ lands just fine in EWN. I know it all stinks man! I really do. But we've been taking planes into EWN/CHO and others where you all have bases. Just like you fly planes into CLT where we have a base.... Again it sucks! EWN crews and rampers are great. I hope they can keep EWN around as a base for ya'll. I mean when are these 7 planes suppose to leave any ways? They had not really said much more about the reductions lately have they?

I'm giving you guys a ribbing for being slow about getting us to the terminal in EWN. I've deadheaded enough to be qualified to give you that ribbing.
That said, we want a CLT base too, but our mgmt is too busy giving eachother rimjobs to actually put any effort into the whole planning/scheduling process that would require.
I think our fleet reductions are supposed to be complete in December.

Whoa, I guess I lit the fire. Us in EWN think it is just a temporary setback. Lots of deadheading after Oct. But you never know. Whatever happens I will just keep doing my job to the best I can. It is the most that can be asked of me and many of us need to remember that. Everyone please keep dojing your job. It is just a rumor too and nothing is final. We will wait and see.
By the way, I'd love to have a TYS base. Just my opinion but there are lots of hiking trails and other recreational activities such as river rafting and tubing around TYS. Alot more than EWN has...
