And please explain to everyone how this is any different than other regional that has refleeted?? Uhh didn't mesa and skywest just get e-170's? Training hundreds of pilots, mechanics, proving runs blah blah blah what was psa flying before jets? shuttle america? Every other airline out there has gone through this, it does make sense if you get it for the right price and that's exactly what aag management is going to toy with. How low will pdt pilots go to fly these. In the long run if it's the right contract all that training and other stuff is a drop in the bucket.
Doug Parker and Scott Kirby are shrewd businessmen. They are very very good at making very large profits. And they do this because they absolutely adore cheap cheap cheap everything! These guys are not gonna throw around $10 million (and that's before airframe acquisition costs) of AAG's money just because a bunch of Piedmonsters are suffering from a terminal case of SJS. You simply cannot qualify any business justification in the current market environment that would warrant them spending that kind of coin to revamp a wholly owned when the airframe in question can be farmed out without that enormous chunk of transition capitol.
This is not the same market that existed when PSA got jets. RJ's were the rage, fuel was cheap and labor wasn't in a full on revolt.
They will dangle the jet and flow thru carrot to lock PDT into their 3rd concessionary contract for the next ten years so they can fly those Dash's as cheap slot holders until the wheels start falling of of them. It's gonna be the same deal they offered Envoy just whitewashed and re-worded to cater to the PDT MEC. You didn't think it odd they offer big incentives to stay on the Dash? Hmmmmmmm....
Parker has done nothing but renege on every deal he cut with that pilot group. Did you know you had flow-thru on the last contract? Airways Group refused to honor it. The PDT MEC sued and the judge said its an RLA issue resolve it arbitration..that went nowhere. Think that won't happen again without rock solid black and white CBA language that AAG will never agree too? Good luck...
I hope I am dead wrong...I hope all of you Piedmonsters get a good contract and a re-fleet..I sincerely do.

The rest of your post, however, is pretty much the way I see it as well.

I do as well. Most Piedmonsters will tell you that they would be perfectly happy staying on the Dash. However, since mainline has absolutely zero interest in flying more turboprops, jets are the only viable option to back this place away from the brink. It is not because of SJS (for most.)

Dont forget guys... Delta just gave one of their wholly owned carriers a flow through program. They got PSA to agree to a flow through program for concessions. They wanted Eagle/Envoy to agree to a flow through for concessions. They'll probably ask PDT for a flow through for concessions.
They need to attract pilots to the airlines more than we need it for career progression. Don't pay for something that they need.
