I'm not a new hire but I know that training at Piedmont can be tough for some people. The dash has a lot more immediate action items, limitations etc that need to be memorized than most jets but that doesn't trip most people up. At PDT, people usually wash out because of either basic flying skills, or attitude. Can you fly a six pack in instrument conditions?

I know they have been giving more extra sim sessions recently due to the need for pilots. I'm assuming it's probably people with decent attitudes that need an extra kick in the butt.

Point is it doesn't need to be that way.

When I was at the monster back in the 90's, you NEVER heard of anyone busting rides or CQ. It just didn't happen.

Sure, there was a lot of material for a new hire, but it was far from insurmountable, and people like PC were there to make sure you succeeded.

Besides, it's not like it's a new airplane or anything.

Listen, if it is the only option you have or you live in one of the outstation bases i can understand coming to pdt. But be aware attrition here on the fo side is through the roof for a reason. Also keep in mind that it is very possible that the companies flight ops will not exist long enough for someone hired today to ever upgrade. If you come here my advice would be to come and get out quick.

It is sad because this company has the potential to be so much better but the management in place is determined to continue running the place in the ground like a speeding lawn dart.

I recently left after several years and while i am happy to move on i will miss flying the dash. It was a great airplane to fly and it taught me a lot.

In a word, training at PDT is ridiculous...BUT, in all fairness the company does have some outstanding instructors, and SOE Captains...

True, but for the most part I have found the instructors to be pretty good. The problem with the training department is mainly JK.

My source says you start parking birds after the first of the year. If attrition isn't high enough, furloughs will happen with job offers at PSA to staff their new flying.

Dude, we've been losing birds. These next two are no surprise to anybody. And they go before the first of the year. We lose one after the new year and that's it for some time. When is that psa flying supposed to start? Exactly. I think your source is a fool.
