Good points. It seems that they want to know how much it will cost them up front. Sadly, I don't think there would be much of a negotiation . It's more like these are the rates or someone else gets them. Just my 2 cents.

A few months ?

Unless your contract stipulates a specific maximum negotiation period and then arbitration, try years.........many years. If you do have an arbitration clause, the arbitrator will have an open door to award the company a match of the most competitive rates out there.

I'd spend a lot if time reviewing Pinnacles contract in that case. But hey...........shiny new RJ's !!!!

I believe it is 90 days we can have the planes on property before there have to be negotiated rates in place.

You need to be drug tested if you think PDT is getting larger RJs.
USAir has no vested interest in keeping PDT around long term.

And why would USAir/AA want to finance an order of lets say 30 aircraft (which would shrink PDT another 30%), at $30mil+ each ($900mil at list costs) when they could get someone else to finance them.

Plus on the East side operation, they are scoped out of any large RJs.
Only the west side has open scope, and PDT isn't moving out to PHX for flight ops. If you believe that, go tan in the desert for the afternoon, it'll burn some sense into you.

As of Sep 1st, the East vs West SCOPE will be done with as they will begin to work under the current AA work rules as outline per the MOU. They might not be paying the lease directly or carry the debt in their books but they will indirectly be paying the leases and have that liability as long as the regional that is contracted maintains their side of the contract.

For the record, I don't believe for a second we will be getting RJ's.

At this point anything could happen. I doubt we would get new a/c but you never know. We could merge with PSA or Eagle. We could be shut down. Who knows. There's no point in worrying about something we can't control.

Piedmonster, you speak in absolutes like you know what's going to happen here. I don't know what your motive is but if it's to get people to think again about working here you can stop because the job has already been done. Why would you work at Piedmont? That's a hard question to answer right now. Congrats Piedmonster, you made the right choice by leaving for greener pastures. Is that what you want to hear?

The truth is probably only a few people in the merger integration planning team for AA/US and Parker, Kirby and his team have even a remote idea of the future of Piedmont, PSA and Eagle, and even this is still up for negotiation and change.

Speaking from my own experiences working in another major airline's flight operations department, fleet and future route network plans change monthly, weekly, and even daily. One week you're planning massive expansion with a new fleet type, the next you're parking 10 aircraft and furloughing. In this business everything is subject to change at a moments notice and sometimes what seems like the least likely ends up happening. The pasture that seems green today could be brown tomorrow and vise versa. Take PNCL/Colgan as an example.

We can't post anything about PDT without Piedmonster reminding us of his high hopes for a PDT demise, but we are in the same place PSA was in when they got their new fleet. Bombardier does not support the 100's anymore. I do find it interesting that overnight the PSA/PDT pilots were given a contract to review after being so far apart for so long and yet our FA's still don't have a contract. I was willing to put money down that they would have a TA within a month of the pilots getting one. Not so much.

It is my understanding that the AA creditors required contracts with certain workgroups and Pilots across the board was one of the requirements for the merger.

I couldn't give half a cr@p what you think of my career choices.
Nor do I want to see PDT disappear. A lot of friends have made a home there.

As I've said over and over, my commentary either boils down to:
A) Don't believe the carrot they are dangling, it's not true
B) having hope at PDT is dangerous to your career, just don't do it.
C) don't go to work at PDT, but if you do, go in with your eyes open and have an end game
