He sounds like someone who is looking to make a sound decision. But Eagle doesn't have a fleet plan. That's were the whole eagle uncertainty comes. There is talks about replacement airplanes and a fleet plan but we don't have it in writing. So Eagle doesn't have a fleet plan as of know, we have been told told that RAH is replacing the CRJ in ORD and that they are planing on returning 18 ERJ 145 to the lessor by years end.
I think Piedmont is one I wont be able to look away from and I am really looking at the future as the planes retire. I chose not to join the pipeline program despite the fact I qualified for it. QOL is important, I intend to make my short stint at a regional positive for however long I end up there. After all for 1300 hours I have been picking up any lesson, photo flight, traffic watch etc I can get my hands on. But I don't need AE pipeline or bonus. I want to make my own decision. After all picking a regional is like picking your date from Craigslist!!!

They have taken quite a few of our captains. It goes in waves. I interviewed and was turned down along with a bunch of other captains here recently. Does staffing have something to do with it? Maybe, maybe not. I wasn't part of the SSP so hopefully that means I can interview again soon.

Eagle seems so unsure of themselves and the future. But it has always been a prime job. Despite AA and US being my dream I wasn't born yesterday and this pipeline program is nothing Im interested in.

As far as not knowing the future, the same can be said with EXJ with regards to the Delta flying as well as the United flying. AWAC has a contract that expires in 2015 and only one customer and a 50 seat fleet just like AE. GoJet stopped hiring and upgrades. PDT and PSA are wholly owned and in the middle of an airline merger. Pinnacle just exited BK with major concessions and unsure on their fleet. Mesa just got some growth airplanes but are horribly managed and GO is apparently not doing to well. RAH got AA flying but what will happen to the 50 seaters and their contract situation compiled with Frontier losses and an unhealthy balance sheet. Horizon is not hiring but a good regional. Compass isn't hiring and they are young and with a flow that seems solid. Transtates can't staff the current flying with many of the guys there just keeping currency and a bad contract. And that basically leaves SKW, they have many 50 seaters, some new airplanes coming under contract and many options... This scared the EXJ side as they could see their airline shrink massively while SKW retains their size and they are not hiring.
I wasn't bashing the other airlines what I was stating is that we all have issues but more importantly the mainlines have clauses where they can move airframes and cancel contracts while playing whipsaw. Right now the regionals are absorbing most if not all liabilities and it makes it easier for the mainline to drive them to the wash and rinse cycle we call BK. pinnacle was an unique situation but we already saw and airline penalized and payments withheld leading to BK.
You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, where you end up going I hope it works out. You should have plenty of options!

Why on earth would you ever consider Piedmont? Waste of 5 1/2 years of my life. The faux-through to mainline, the new Q400's. I'm surprised theyre still spewing that BS. Good luck flying 6-8 legs in hot nasty old equipment that's getting so old that they're hitting their maximum cycle limit. The nasty people in scheduling (except 2 of them) and horrid management who could care less about your well being and definitely not about your career.
Biggest mistake of my life was not leaving that sh*thole on my first day in Chicken-town (Salisbury MD)
DONT DO IT. Just don't. There's a reason why a lot of us ex/current Piedmonsters are on here saying not to go....I wish I had listened when I got hired on.
