Good luck flying 60 hours a month on reserve. When I was on reserve about 30-35 per month was average.

Im sorry.. I still dont understand. Do you fly reg duty and then 60 hours res? Is the 60 hour res given to you at piedmont or do you have to look for it yourself?

Do you know what reserve is? (this is not sarcastic remark) Reserve pilots are pilots that fill in for sick calls and for trips that the company does not have coverage for. Generally reserve pilots do not fly as much as line holders (pilots that hold scheduled trips) You should be able to hold a line in a few months (depending on attrition) Line holders average roughly 85 hours a month.

So they expect you do hold a line PLUS 60 hours of reserve flight time per month? Is it possible to fly 60 hours of reserve per month? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just got out of flight school and have no idea what they mean by this.

A let's say you start trainig in Sep and finish in Nov, that would leave you with 8 months to Aug 2013. They are expecting you to fly 60 hrs a month when you are initially hired with the company, when you are a we hire you are a spare (reserve). So with 60 hrs a month and 8 months to do it you need around 1100 TT to meet the ATP mins in AUG 2013

No, No, No. You are either a reserve or a line holder not both. As a new hire you will be reserve. That means you sit within an 1:15 of base everyday waiting on a phone call that you may or may not get. If you don't get called you don't fly. As i said earlier when I was a reserve I flew an average of 30-35 per month.

I think it said that you needed to meet ATP mins by July 2013. With only 60 hours of reserve flying a month.. that isn't even possible.. What does Piedmont expect one to do to fill the rest of the hours?

Just curious how much time do you have? If you don't have the atp times next august you will be furloughed or fired or whatever else the company wants to do with you. Also don't plan on flying 60 hours a month on reserve, during the winter when things slow down you will be doing a lot of sitting. My advise find some way to build time before coming to an airline job. Also unless you have the pic time already you will not get it in time for the atp unless you spend every day off renting a 152.

To sum up, they don't expect you to work for them if you cant meet the times.
