Just got back from visiting my local FSDO to have my times validated. As we were trying to figure out the paperwork, we ended up calling BWI with a couple of questions. What did they tell us? That there was about a 90% chance that all of the 8900 requirements ("Job Aid" and "8060-7") were going to be dropped entirely within the next couple of days. Apparently they figured this out on Friday, but the FIL about it won't come out until(assuming) everything is finalized in a few days. This is of course after I'd spent hours on the phone with Training, BWI, and my FSDO over the last week or so figuring out how exactly we're supposed to jump through these hoops.

Also, if you haven't already retaken your ATP Written: hold off for another week or two. BWI told me last week that they were hoping that the requirement would be dropped within the next few months. As of this morning, there's a good chance it'll be dropped within the next few days. So there's 3 days and $225 down the drain for me...

(For the record, my frustration is directly entirely at the FAA for this whole fiasco. Training seems to be trying to help us as much as they can by working to get these requirements dropped, but there's only so much they can do when the Feds clearly have no idea what's going on (ie: the decade+ outdated 8060-7 business talked about earlier). I just wish I could invoice the FAA for reimbursement of expenses and time lost...)

Write it off on your taxes. It's a business expense not covered by the company. Same as uniforms, internet, cell phone, medicals, crashpads or any other thing you need but is not covered by PDT. Not alot, but at least uncle sam will give you something for it?

Default B.D.

It's been a long while since I posted on this forum but once in a while you hear something so unbelievable that you have to ask. Is what I read on the Wall Street Journal accurate about BD in Cho-ville? I remember flying with him many years ago and he seemed to be more of the white liberal guilt plagued whacko, not the gun toting kind....

Here's some good news for those of you with expired writtens. I thought I'd share the link here since I'm sure it'll be months before our fine management team discovers this and sends out an FIL littered with spelling errors. (if they remember to attach the FIL to the email)

Regulations.gov
You'll have to open the attached PDF.

Rumor has it certain U express union officers are in contact with American Eagle's ALPA. The rumor is it involves discussing SSL and U Ex pilots getting a share of the possible flow-thru slots that were awarded to Eagle pilots in the event those slots survive an AA/U merger.

Ha ha, hey Tony can we have some of those flow-thru slots you guys "posses"? I mean if they are going to get rid of you guys we might as well put those slots to good use!

Our Negotiating Committee just posted management's final offer. . . I've never actually physically been "slapped in the face," but I'm pretty sure this is what it feels like. Oh well, its not like I didn't see it coming.

Anyway, can some answer for certainty where we are sitting right now? Have we been released into self help or not?

Not that I believe any of this, but for arguments sake . . . I'm completely on board with this as long as all the pay to play'ers are stapled below the Wholly-Owns. They can fight over the piece of cheese among themselves after that. Maybe they can purchase seniority numbers from Airways. It seems to work for them to obtain additional flying.
