It's a good thing. Not to say it would be difficult to be better at that job the (yes i know jb is the faa cp still) JB or ESPECIALLY DJ but he's probably the best line pilot that could end up in that position.

Glad to hear that. I think he's one of the few with the stones to stand up for a pilot when need be. There's another in the training dept who will take a hard stand in favor of a pilot when he's right, but I doubt many would believe me here.

There's more than one. It's never been the instructors that were/are the problem. It's the philosophy that the TD leadership instills and enforces. They are uber paranoid of getting violated by the FAA for something. So, instead of acting like nearly every other TD in 121 aviation and finding every reason to pass a trainee/upgrade or recurrent pilot, they instead look for any reason they can to fail someone. It's that mentality that makes them so difficult to deal with. The good instructors face reprimand or outright discharge from their training position if they take to firm a stance against this MM snobbery.
